Is it so wrong not to accept courier??

What a sad guy. Make sure you forward these emails to ebay. Sorry your having so much trouble from this idiot. :mad:For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0

Can I just add my tuppence worth,....maybe he is annoyed that you just cancelled his bids? He asks if he can arrange a courier, you say no and then cancel his bids.......maybe he still would've been able to arrange pick up.
I think that is what would have annoyed me - not having the option to continue with the sale.
FWIW, I sometimes agree to courier, although when the buyers find out the prices, that usually puts them off....but I only agree because I know that I can leave an item with the receptionist at work for the courier to pick up, so I am not waiting in all day.Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! I'm not sure I understand the "no courier" stance - as a buyer who has used a courier for "local pick up only" goods in the past. most of it antique (old tat!) furniture and some of it from as far away as Scotland.
The way I see it, the item is being picked up - just not by me. The couriers I've used make specific arrangements with the sellers to collect on a particular day, within a one-hour time slot and they call the seller on the day to confirm their ETA.
I can't see that the seller is at risk of a chargeback for any problems with the courier as I, the buyer, have contracted separately with the courier and the seller is in no way involved.
Just a different side to the issue .....Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Seriously if you have a courier that gives 1 hour time slots I would love details, maybe you could put it on the long parcel thread because I'm sure I'm not alone being interested in a courier who will work to order as that is one reason I don't use them for outgoing items.
I don't suppose they wrap and seal everything as well, as otherwise there is a huge difference between collecting yourself and collecting by courier.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sorry if I've added confusion, but I don't determine the time slot i.e. I don't tell them when to collect. They contact the seller directly and say, initially, "between 10 and 11am" on a specific date - and then they call to confirm ETA on the day.
They do the same with the buyer, so I know when to expect them.
I'll look up the two that I used last year ....I don't suppose they wrap and seal everything as well, as otherwise there is a huge difference between collecting yourself and collecting by courier.
I'm not sure - can't remember. But I imagine they would, if the buyer asked and paid for it. It's generally not essential for furniture as it's no different to having furniture transported in a removal van. Often, just covering it with a blanket is sufficient. And mine was "old tat" e.g. a chaise that needed restoration, so any damage wouldn't have been noticeable :rotfl::rotfl:unless very substantial.Warning ..... Oh, if you are using a man with a van that's different as they work on an individual basis so you arrange for them to go and collect something from X and bring it back, so it needs no delivery details or labels at all. That still wouldn't be any good for me though as if I work in London I have to leave very early so if they phoned to be saying they would call that morning it would still be no good as I would already be at work. I was hoping for a real courier who could tell me 2 or 3 days in advance that he would arrive at say 5pm on a Thursday.
However most buyers want to send an ordinary courier, usually one of the cheap resellers who merey collect for something like DHL so require everything packed and secure, all the labels printed out and confirmed as they'll go via a sorting hub and not direct to the buyer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. "thats ok you mess me about,i but you on my favourites and i buy or my friends can buy your goods, i told you in good faith about a courier that i have used,i bid for your goods and you have the cheek to cancal my bid,its not about the lamps its the principle, remember my name because i will mass you about, good night and god bless ******"
Forward the emails to ebay, and if you get any negs in the next few weeks, get on to ebay to get it removed for malicious bidding (not sure on the process, I assume ebay cross reference the IDs if you ask them to).
He probably won't buy anything else though, I bet he vanishes as soon as the schools re-open.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

That's what they do - arrange in advance, but still call on the day to give a firmer ETA
And, yes - more like a "man with a van" but a much bigger national operation. When I priced it, it was cheaper than a DHL type courier, too.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
To which I got the following reply:
"thats ok you mess me about,i but you on my favourites and i buy or my friends can buy your goods, i told you in good faith about a courier that i have used,i bid for your goods and you have the cheek to cancal my bid,its not about the lamps its the principle, remember my name because i will mass you about, good night and god bless ******"
I would reply politely, using Soolin's suggestion earlier:
"Sorry to appear rude, but I specifically state no couriers because I'm a busy person and do not have time to wait around for a courier to turn up.
If you know of a courier company that will arrive in a 30 minute time slot, specified by me, will pay for the goods for you in cash, and wrap them all suitable for transit, signing to say the goods are in described condition, then please let me know, as I will then permit this specific courier for collection in future.
Kind Regards <you>"Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Using a man with a van would be of no use at all as it leaves you wide open for a paypal chargeback, you can't prove using online trackable methods the item was delivered!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
