rudeness of toys 'r' us staff

mr mob called tru earlier to check if they had the highchair we wanted in stock. he called the local branch and the girl who answered the phone was so rude. no good morning toys r us, instead a miserable 'hello' followed by a 'what do you want?' (said as if she really couldnt be arsed with good manners). then the girl on the baby department was just as 'am i bothered' as the previous staff member. when asked when they got delivery of new stock she said 'dunno'. she may as well have said 'dunno dont care'

they were out of stock and we got it from mothercare in the end but paid £15 more as tru had it in a sale. however the staff in sutton mothercare were very helpful and i am not bothered about the extra £15.

I've just read the thread mentioned above and your post too and all I would suggest is that everyone boycott TrUs.

They haven't moved on much since the 12years since I had my youngest son and went into store heavily pregnant to purchase a car seat and the sales assistant refused to carry it to the car for me because he was due a tea break! I was furious and he was very very rude. Despite letters of complaint, no satisfactory resolution was reached.

    Horrid shop.

I don't think that its very fair to say everyone should boycott TRUs as i work there and we have excellent staff.

I have also had numerous customers very happy for the assistance that they get.

I will say one thing though, we don't actually know what products are coming when, we get told either on the day or the day before when our truck will be but until it arrives we don't know what is on it.

This doesn't make up for bad manners though.

I would just complain to the management if you get bad service, they usually bend over backwards to help.

That's an interesting perception MsPig. I had a discussion about this with a group of friends earlier and nobody had a good word to say about TrUs. I can assure you no management bent anywhere when I complained and each time I've visited since, nothing was done to alter my perception.

It is good to know that they do have some caring staff, perhaps not in all their stores. Keep up the good work.

You realise that he was perfectly within his rights to refuse, tea break or not. If he had done his back in whilst helping you, the company would not have helped him... Also, the companys insurance would most likely only cover him instore, if he had been hit by a car whilst helping you he wouldnt have had a leg to stand on.

If he was otherwise rude, you still had a right to complain about that.

Oh, and it wasn't his fault you were pregnant - it's a condition, not an illness. I hope you'll plan better in the future and not decide to go shopping whilst heavily pregnant if you can't hack the pace.

Sorry - this phrase tickled me ;)

Grex - we don't know the OP's situation; maybe she has no-one to help her?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

indeed, though maybe she should have thought of that before buying what she must have known would be a fairly substantially sized purchase?

I wouldn't buy a couch from ikea without bringing some help.

Devils advocate, the OP was using her pregnancy as an excuse to get help in lieu of her partner/friend whatever coming with her, rather than buying it three months into pregnancy when she would have been more able.

Perhaps we'd best let Firefly answer for herself if she wants to.

 Are you serious??? So pregnant women can only buy lightweight stuff after the first trimester in your book, or only go out when escorted by a non-pregnant person. What about people in wheelchairs, do they have to have someone walking in front with a red flag when they enter a shop?

Playing Devil's Advocate is all very well if you have a valid point to make, bit silly otherwise. But you made me laugh anyway!

I must join the ranks of those who hate TRU, for 2 reasons:

    1. They would not refund or replace an item which was not working, even tho' I had only had it a month. It was years ago now and I can't even recall what it was but I have never forgotten their attitude, which was dire.

    2. My nearest Toys R Us was built on the site of the old Goldstone Ground in Hove (home to my beloved footie team, Brighton & Hove Albion for those unacquainted with them). Even now, the Albion still play their games on a running track and the teams get changed in a shed...........long story, main perpetrators of selling off the ground are well known locally (but lets blame TRU too, how dare they replace a footie ground!). :D

Anyway I digress, basically I'm with the OP on this one, TRU are cr*p!
