HTC Hero & T-Mobile - a good combination?

Hi everyone
After much research and spending time looking at phones I have decided that an HTC Hero is the way to go, the Android OS with all it's apps swings it for me.
Could anyone give me their opinions of T-Mobile please, I have always been with Orange, I know O2 provide good customer service but T-Mobile is an unknown quantity to me!
I am looking at several deals including:
800mins, unlimited texts, unlimted internet (2GB) 18 months @ £30/month
Business unlimited: unlimited calls, texts and internet (2GB), 24 months @ £30 a month.
Are T-Mobile a reliable operator?
Is their customer service good?
Do they hammer you for overstepping the data allowance (and is it actually 2GB?)
Is their coverage good generally?
Many thanks for any replies, I think I'm almost decided now so just need these few issues clearing up!

Are T-Mobile a reliable operator? I've never had any issues with T-Mobile except the problem listed below, I'd been with them for PayG for 6 months before swapping to my contract 3 months ago.
Is their customer service good?Yes, I find their customer service exceptional - I was being overcharged on the contract you are mentioning, £34.04 a month - after one phone call they refunded what I'd overpaid and lowered the cost of my contract by £10 a month.
Do they hammer you for overstepping the data allowance (and is it actually 2GB?) I've used my HTC Hero a lot and have never had to pay extra for going over a data allowance - I wasn't aware there was one. I've used it to stream full TV shows & Movies on my laptop using the HTC Hero internet sharing.
Is their coverage good generally? The only issue I've had with coverage is in the small town of Aberystwyth where I go to university which T-mobile doesn't provide 3g for yet. The 2g signal there is excellent and when I have been in their 3g coverage area - 3g has been working fine.0 -

Would you happen to know what the charges are if you go over the 3Gb allowance?
I am also considering the G2 Touch on T-Mobile and am not sure how much data would be used in a month.0 -
I have a G2 on T-Mobile and it seems pretty good.
Their required data package is "unlimited", and when I asked them on the phone they confirmed that it really is unlimited and I could download all day if I wanted to. I may put that to the test at some point, but I have been downloading apps and videos a lot with no complaints. We shall see how it goes when I get it tethered to my laptop.
I get 300 minutes and 300 texts, which I don't come close to using but this was the cheapest package overall. IIRC you pay ~£490 over an 18 month contract, phone is free. I also got £40 cashback with Quidco.0 -
HTC is a good phone maker as for Best Operators
My experience indicates O2 to be the best as they offer a unlimited data plan for £20/month and on a rolling 1 month contact
Included are 600mins and 1200 txts and a choice on an impressive bolt ons.
One bolt on being the unlimited worldwide data plan for a blackberry for an additional £20/monh and trust me that is worth its weight in gold for a traveller.
Buts sush.....dont tell anyone:rotfl:
