Cheers, guess I'll just wait to get it back with my Visa before I go anywhere!

What about coming back from Belfast? I'm going to the US Embassy and I'm guessing they'll keep my passport to put the Visa on but how do I get back? Will I need my driving license as ID?
  • You will be staying within the UK so that should be fine, you should check with the airline though.

My son is on my partners passport. Her passport is due to expire in July, so we need to apply for a renewal passport for her and a passport for my son.

According to the documentation, she doesn't need to include her birth certificate in the application as she has a passport.

Which type of birth certificate do I need to include for my sons ? He has a "short version" and a "certified copy" which is a longer version.

Will the short version be sufficient, bearing in mind that both applications have gone in the same envelope, and he's already on the passport which is included in the envelope.

Bit of a late question, as we have already used the check and send service at the Post Office and they accepted it .... but I've since read this on the Passport website .....
Birth certificate (a full birth certificate is required from all first time applicants born on or after 1 January 1983).

... so now I'm worried that they'll reject the application ( even though the Post Office accepted it )

You should be OK if he's already on a passport.
