Hi,

are there any cheap/os methods of getting rid of the the feet 'fragrance' ;) of shoes etc? My boyfriend does wash, uses foot cream and/or talcum powder but all his shoes sooner or later start to smell. I wash some of them, but that wouldnt work for all types of shoeware anyway. Any ideas?

Thanx in advance :)

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Put the shoes in a carrier bag, tied up. Then put in the freezer. The low temperature kills the food odour bacteria.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Hello,

I don't usually post here but hopefully you guys can help me :)

In our house we have a cheapy pine shelving unit in the hallway where the shoes go. My hallway is very tight so the rack is right by both the stairs and the front door, so you really notice the 'shoe' smell. It's not so much cheesy feet smell as a stale is sort of smell.

Today I have tidied it and run most of the shoes through the washing machine, which will help I hope.

I just wondered if any of you lovely folks had any ideas about how to help it smell nicer in general as a longer-term solution.

Pigpen did suggest lavender wheatbags earlier, but do they smell strongly? Lavender is a smell that disagrees with me in pregnancy!

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi delain,

These threads may help with the shoes in future:

    smelly shoes

    Smelly trainers

If you want to refresh the area where the shoes are stored what about bicarbonate of soda in a small saucer as it will absorb any moisture and smells.

Once you've had more replies I'll add your thread to one of the above links to keep the advice in one place.
