Don't you love it when people try to defend very dodgy auctions and make themselves look even worse

Who is We? they are not forcing people to donate, people donate because they want to. and if they want to, let them.

or, they could just donate to H4H via the website, or a buy a wristband, etc etc! But then you wouldn't get a cut of the profits would you... And who is we? Lets just say my Army is bigger than yours. :p

Searching 'charity' on ebay to see similar, and see if the H4H one really is kosher, I came across an odd one, looks like a lottery to 'win' the item, thats unusual, but no idea if its acceptable, just not come across it before!

Its a BIN and a 'massive' 10% of your £1.99 stake goes to 'charity'

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Nintendo-DSI-black-charity-auction_W0QQitemZ170431079229QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_VideoGames_VideoGameConsoles_VideoGameConsoles?hash=item27ae7be33d

Any thoughts? Just doesnt seem right, how would anyone know if the prize was even won? Seems the connection to charity makes it more acceptable?

Holding your own lottery on eBay is not allowed. This user has changed his username, it was not originally 'auctions-charity'. This user would have been buying or selling on his personal eBay account, which is where he has obtained positive feedback, then he has changed to 'auctions-charity' to run this scam. This enables him to appear trustworthy when unsuspecting eBayers view his listings.

    H4H informed.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I Wasn’t aware of this, but does look a bit suspect.

So far he has accepted £5 and to be honest for a £1 donation the 50% split is probably accurate with what Paypal & Ebay take, but why not just point people to our donations page?

I will contact Ebay and see what they think

    Best wishes

That's not a reply to me btw, I was going to email them from work tomorrow but someone beat me to it :D

Who is that reply from? H4H?

If so, they don't appear to be that bothered that someone is exploiting their charity in order to profit.

It's like going into town with a H4H bucket, accepting donations and only passing on some of the money.
