If you're struggling to get into the trap of the shower, is it possible to try and clear any blockage from the other end. Go outside and see where the outlet comes through the wall, could you pull it apart here and as has been suggested get something like a curtain rod that you can push up and pull out any obstruction.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

used baking powder,,vinegar,,,boiling water and a curtain wire,,,took a few hrs,,,
