Just wondering, and not trying to be difficult honest MrsE :D do Aldi and/or Lidl carry bread flour? I've never looked, is it any good or cheaper?

Thanks for this, I always used to buy the best flour I could find for bread - but have since found that the cheapest does me just as well. Even did a 'taste test' a year or so ago and thought that the cheaper flour made a better loaf! Go figure . . .

Lidl do & its nice, but I don't know how much it is:o
No Aldis within miles of me so no idea.

I popped into Waitrose yesterday as I read on here Canandian flour is fab & I had noticed it on offer in Waitrose on Saturday, but due to panic buying there were two bags of bread flour left on the shelves:rolleyes:
Waitrose organic bread flour, quite expensive, but made nice bread.

Thats why I decided to look into it more.
I think the best thing would be to print off this list, start at the bottom & work your way up until you find one you like/love:D

RE you taste test, I don't like Allisons at all, Lidls is MUCH nicer.
But thats all I've tried, I need to try more.

Would the old style board guides like to use this list to add as a sticky or if not a front page sticky, to stick it in the front of the most pop bread making thread?

It would be a shame for it to drop off without losts of people seeing it & printing it off to get the best value flour that suits them.

After all "daily bread" is one of the most basic of food & home.

I do not know the price at the moment but have used a lot of Lidl's bread flour and have found it to be excellent. (and cheaper than most other supermarkets)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Thanks Mrs E, very helpful. Wish I'd seen this earlier, I'm just back from Lidl and could have checked the price of their bread flour. I buy and use it all the time, it's great stuff.
