Shortly after I started making enquiries (see post #21), the local civic offices began accepting batteries for recycling. Our local Waitrose stores now accept them too
We only have the occasional one or two as I prefer rechargeables.
When I previously enquired at some of the places mentioned on this thread, they didn't have a clue

It would be good if my local council decided to run some sort of collection scheme, i might keep nagging them about it, although from past experience they probably wont even reply to my email...grr!
I just got a battery recharger now so gonna be good and not waste loads of batteries anyway!!
