Thanks everyone, i have incorporated all your advice into an email which i have just sent to the manager of the claims dept (although i doubt he/she will deal with it personally).
In their most recent letter they even had the gall to say that their 'engineer' claims he would have seen the damage immediately had he caused it!!
I will post back with their next response.
PS: Don't worry, i had no intention of "buffing" the floor (or anything else) till the matter is resolved0 -
here is the response just received by letter:
"...We note that you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of your complaint.
We do feel that we have used our best endeavours to investigate your complaint thoroughly and to set out our position to you clearly.
In the circumstances there is really nothing further that we can add and now consider the matter closed.
Any further correspondence will be filed without response."
Any suggestions as to how i can proceed from here? I guess i should write a letter to someone higher up, but i don't know who.0 -
They state that they've used their best endeavours to investigate the complaint, yet they haven't sent anyone round to look at and assess the damage. You might want to explain this to them, stating that if they sent someone over in person it would be obvious to them how the damage was caused. With this in mind don't accept that they've investigated it properly.0

if the damage is so minimal that it can only be seen in darkness with the lights on then i dont see how this can be significant damage. who installed the washer and was the wooden floor there before washer was installed ?
sorry , doesnt sound right to me.
werent you there when the repair took place ?
you would have signed the worksheet surely . any uncertainty / damage should be recorded on there.
smells to me like you are looking for a cheap new floor ...................we all have bad days , some more than others ..................0 -

what a cynical little person you are.0 -
We have just had an indesit repair, no damage to the floor thank goodness.
Their response to an 8 week old dishwasher that is leaking badly where a metal seam along one side has opened?.... fill the gap between the two sides of metal with silicone sealer...,
I questioned if that was a perminent repair suitable for such a new item and was told he would come back and squeeze some more in!
It is an integrated appliance, thankfully we have not had our new kitchen fitted yet, or the leek would be merrily dripping away behind the plinth and we may not have known about it for ages.
I feel it was not manufactured properly if a metal seam in its construction is starting to open up within 8 weeks of purchace, but from the response you have had about your floor, looks like its not worth me asking!0 -
