Here is the link to the breakdown cover page. Under other relevant information/consumer rights is the piece in question. Hope this helps ;)

That doesn't say anything about a 6 year warranty though. It does have a paragraph detailing rights under SOGA, such as the right to claim against the retailer for upto 6 years (5 in Scotland).

Exactly, OP, you are talking rubbish, a warranty is not what SOGA implies. It merely implies conditions of quality, durability and fitness for purpose for u to 6 years taking into account, product nature, price paid etc etc.

So, if I remove the word warranty and just state the same as the SOGA (what Argos is stating?). Then all else remains the same and you have up to 6 years reasonable use of the product. During this time, if a manufacturing/assembly fault rears its head, then you may claim for a repair/replacement item (if you can prove it).
Or are certain people, who are in the now, saying that this is a waste of time and the SOGA is not worth the paper its written on?

You have up to 6 years Marty not 6 years it depends on the product, a warranty is an added extra by the manufacturer it does not effect your statutory tights

I really dont understand why you cant grasp the SOGA

Thank you for saying what I had just said :T
I do understand SOGA and people do have the right to have a product repaired/replaced within 6 years, if it is a manufacturing/assembly defect and they can prove this.:D

But who would pay for an independent test for a £30 toaster to get it replaced under SOGA, now if it was a 6 year warranty it would get replaced no problem.

I can just see it now, all the customers lining up to take their 5 year old tosters back to argos because marty from the interweb said they could :D

Thank you for your constructive input :p
I would only expect people who have the misfortune to have a expensive item to pursue this avenue.
Are all the negative replies coming from worried retailers I wonder?
