I have today been rejected by Vanquis.
Oh the shame!!!!
I have a satisfied CCJ from April 2008, I have a satisfied default from MBNA in 2005.
But on the positive side I have a flawless 2 year history with an o2 contract, a current account with a £5k overdraft (used frequently but i never go over it and i am currently in credit (and this is registered at my work address...hmmmmmmmm that may be the issue).
My rejection email read like this:

well lemma, I was rejected today for a store card and I thought they were pretty easy to get, I've no defaults on my credit files, nothing sinister!
Very odd the credit thing, not sure about the criteria with Vanquis, maybe no defaults/ccj's in the last 3 years? I have a vanquis card and they even gave me a Gold card, but still 41% interest:eek:0 -
can join you in that vanquis club, i been rejected too.
All i have is a satisfied default from 2006 for 185.00
Still their loss, passed credit check for virgin and mbna yesterday so aint really bothered about them now, LOLAwaiting Inspiration......................0 -
Welcome, the more the merrier.
Nice to see I am not on my own then. I got the impression they accepted everyone (just about). Their loss!:p2013 TARGET £30k

Declined for a Vanquis card, but approved for MBNA and Virgin???
My credit history has nothing negative and still they quizzed me for the Virgin card before they approved it.
Have you actually had the cards issued yet??0 -
am a customer of virgin anyway, and when i phoned up they said i passed with flying colours.
I only have a default that is 3 years old, but have 2 loans off provident, and a lloyds current account, dont ask me how they work cause i dont know.
Cards not through yet, but recieved emails from virgin stating they are on way etc, and with terms and stuff, and that paper work will followAwaiting Inspiration......................0 -
Maybe they don't think they can make some money from you!!!
Who wants one of these cards with a low credit limit and high interest rate (although better than a door-step loan!!)
If you have a reasonable to good rating and they expect you to repay your balance in full they will get no interest from you!!!0 -
well provident are always offering me loans now, cause i only owe them 150 accross two loans.
The reason i applied for vanquis was cause i had ccj's etc until 10past6 helped me with getting them removed, and also cause of advice from N-I-D regarding defaults etc.
Vanquis turned me down 3 weeks ago, so i thought sod it, not bother again, but got letter from virgin yesterday about card, so called not holding out much hope, but they accepted me straight away.
Then thought i try online for MBNA, lost connection as only on mobile broadband, so completed it on phone after that, and they said i passed also.
It just dont add upAwaiting Inspiration......................0 -

Still do not understand how you can be declined for a Vanquis Card and sail thorugh an application for Virgin and MBNA card.
Something is not right there!
What was the reason for the Vanquis application if you have mainstream credit available to you?0 -
i didnt have mainstream at the time, only had provident, only got accepted yesterday for virgin, although i do have a mobile with them, through the phone broadband package etc (10.00 per month)Awaiting Inspiration......................0

I was accepted for Vanquis, subject to sending my passport - I never bothered and withdrew the application as I realised they didn't have online servicing. Now they've got that I reapplied and got rejected!!
I phoned up asking if they could reinstate the accept from earlier in the year, and they said it had to be within 3 months (was more like 5) and that as it's not I've been reassessed and rejected based on the current situation (they obviously don't like the fact I've got 2 other cards & contracts etc). Not impressed though, I want to try them again in a few months because they give better increases than Capital One....0
