(I have no idea, plenty of threads have been started on the subject, and they end up in massive brawls too!).
Ha! I can imagine!

That's the kind of news I like to hear!
Out of interest what are your thoughts on the different rates at which various areas are recovering. Do you think they'll all bounce back in time?
Is now a good time to move from an area that's pretty much recovered to one that's still falling (assuming you want to make the move at some point)?
And why on earth are Perth & Kinross and Argyll and Bute doing so well?? Nice places but very out of the way???0 -

Great news, isn't it!!!! :jOut of interest what are your thoughts on the different rates at which various areas are recovering. Do you think they'll all bounce back in time?
Absolutely, all areas will recover eventually. The difference in timescales is nothing more than local influences in terms of supply and demand.s now a good time to move from an area that's pretty much recovered to one that's still falling (assuming you want to make the move at some point)?
None are still falling, in as much as all are up from the trough, but a few are still slightly down year on year.....And why on earth are Perth & Kinross and Argyll and Bute doing so well?? Nice places but very out of the way???
Perth is central, commutable from Edinburgh, on the crossroads of the major routes to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen/Dundee and Inverness. Lots of regional managers, service and sales reps, etc live there.
Argyll & Bute, no idea.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

He is absolutely the biggest troll on here, bar none.
Never engages in debate at all, just posts images designed to distract threads from the real topic at hand.
Pathetic.
Talking of pathetic, I note the usual crowd who like to portray anyone who likes HPI as being "desperate" or "needy" are nowhere to be seen when the actual sold price indices show that Aberdeen is back above all months in 2007 but two, and within a gnats pube of those. Nor when it is irrefutably demonstrated that according to the indices, anyone buying in 2007 in Aberdeen is up substantially versus renting for the same timeframe. If they had a tracker, by as much as 40K on just an average house.
Clownshoes, the lot of them.
Guess they'll have to find a new bear meme shortly.....:rotfl:“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I don't get why Hamish is being accused of being a troll. He's passing on information that, to many, will be welcome. The only people who will be disappointed by this information will be those who have perhaps missed out on countless superb opportunities to invest in one of the UK's most vibrant housing markets and enjoy the benefits connected with doing so.
I say "thank you" to Hamish for the information, and "tough tits" to those of you without the foresight to invest as Hamish obviously has done and find trying to belittle Hamish's input to be the best way of making yourself feel better about that lack of foresight.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I always seek out Hamish's posts in threads that interest me. Yes, I am biased in that I get the impression that what I want to see happen is similar to what Hamish wants to see happen. But I think Hamish has a good grasp on things, thinks things out well and writes very interesting, informative posts. I don't take everything as gospel - if something sounds interesting I check it out and my research tends to proove Hamish right.
Someone intelligent that puts his point well will ALWAYS come under childish personal attack from those that :
a) don't like what he says, and
b) doesn't have what it takes to respond intelligently
Fortunately for those of us interested in hearing intelligent views, people like Hamish are thick skinned enough to ignore the silly personal attacks. The best way to get rid of trolls is to ignore them. The silent majority see them for what they are.
Keep it up Hamish (and others that persist in intelligent debate despite extreme provocation - regardless of what 'side' you're on!!!).0 -
Mctittish bought at the top of the market.
Not once, but twice.
He now lives in a red light district.

Hamish is not a troll. He is simply someone who believes that if he bombards people with his opinion night and day people will eventually believe him. His opinions are a bit to simplistic for me as life simply is not as simple as he would like to believe. I'm also always concerned why someone would be so desperate for people to believe they are right its a bit like they are trying to convince themselves as much as anyone else.
One day he maybe proved right though. What people can't argue against is at the moment average houseprices are rising and I cant really see people still being on here in 15 years to see if the average houseprice is 300K+0 -

I think if you analysed why ANYONE posted more than once or twice to a discussion forum you'd have cause for concern :rotfl:Probably best that we all avoid thinking too much about that one! What I would say is that it's a little LESS sad to spend hours of your time trying to convince others to see things your way than it is to spend hours of your time reading things that you don't like reading and then complaining about them.
