Can you recommend a good foundation?

  • Hi peeps

Any idea on a good foundation/foundation and powder combo for me, I have:

Very pale skin (need a foundation that doesn't make me look ill!)
    Oily t-zone
Dark under-eye circles (need a foundation that doesn't go dry and cakey round the eyes and doesn't give me that weird 'racoon' look)!
    Lasts long

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Bobbi Brown! I bang on about how brilliant their stuff is because it genuinely is. I use pretty much all their stuff now (which I had to build up slowly as it isn't cheap!) but I'm so happy I found them. All their girls are trained make up artists too so you can get some really good quality advice.

At the moment I'm using their oil free compact, touch up stick (as a blemish concealer), corrector, under eye concealer and powder. I especially love their powder as you can really pile it on without it looking cakey; it results in a really lovely finish. I actually have people complimenting me on my skin now which is ridiculous when you consider just how badly I suffer from acne scars and I also get spots, although thankfully now much less than I used to. I think if you see make up as an investment then Bobbi Brown is the way to go.
Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I ended up buying Estee Lauder Double Wear and I love it, it's designed to last a long time and they'll give you a free sample. Thing is I didn't think I was THAT pale but I'm the lightest shade they do lol. I reckon Mac probably will have a larger variety of shades and if I was you I'd go to both counters and try them out, Mac is a few pounds cheaper also.

I could never get the right shade with Mac; they were either too pale or too yellow. Their coverage is really good though, so if you can get the shade right then they do a good foundation. Especially that studio one with the kind of plasticky feel; can't remember what it's called but I believe it's their most recent release.

I have similar skin with large pores on and around my nose with quite a bit of oil. The only foundation that doesn't just sit in my pores is Avon Magix Face Perfector (£10). I've tried everything including EL Double wear which only seemed to highlight the pores and this is my miracle.

do go and have a look at the revlon colourstay range- 30ml is about £12 and it comes in two finishes one for dry skin and one for normal to oily which is a heavier and dryer formula - this one in particular is very comparable to the mac studio fix but as someone stated above mac is known to either work for you or break you out.

please have a look at makeupalley.com its reviews written by consumers and the colourstay range has a big following on the boards as well as mac and the estee lauder double wear but you can search via your skin type and people of a similar age/ colouring

so it should aleviate some of the trial and error xx
keep calm and carry on :rotfl:
