Take them to court.
If you want all you think you're owed the only way you will get the money is via a small claims court.0 -
I sympathise with your problems, it's a nightmare when things like this happen.
Unfortunately from my experience, getting all these services at low cost from the same provider is not always the most headache free method.
For example, you can get TV, Broadband and Phone from NTL. Now their TV isn't as good as Sky but the Broadband and Phone is ok, when they're working.
There are other telecoms providers that are a few pence cheaper than BT but may not offer the same services/customer service.
Another example you can get telecoms and 'free' Broadband from TalkTalk, this works out quite a bit cheaper, but you only need look at reports from many people who've signed up to see that there are still major problems.
From a pure service point of view, I would recommend Sky for TV, BT for Telephone and any 'proper' ISP (i.e. not Tesco, TalkTalk).0 -
im just tryint to work out who will give me a good deal on all i already have - family not prepared to lose any of their services so need to keep everything - once ive sorted all that i will be recouping my losses off them ......
thanks
forgot to say bt is sooooooo out of the question - when we moved into this house over 12years ago we did a house swop and we had a bt line in the old house but there wasnt one in the new one - the people we were swopping with were prepared to pay for a bt line in for us, but, bt refused to put one in - cant remember the details now....so, we went with telewest - would never use bt again as they totally messed us about....0 -
Used to have cable tv. Had nothing but problems with it. (NTL) With sky now £21 a month all channels apart from movies and sports. Never had a problem with them. They have some good offers at the minute for you to join them. Don't watch tv much but have it for the kids channels, living tv (most haunted addict!) and hubby likes documentaries and news.
(Anyone see MH last night with the chair moving across the room. VERY spooky!!!)

£150 a month for Digital TV, Telephone and BB?
Seems erm..........expensive!
What problems do you have with Telewest? A good m8 of mine works for MAP who are contracted to telewest as engineers. So if you explain exactly what is going on I might be able to offer you info so you can ring Telewest up and TELL them the problem (saves them spending 8months trying to locate the fault.
Cheers,0 -
thanks t4i - the problem is the set top box - it should have two continuously on yellow lights - when the bottom light flashes it means the connection has been lost - this has been happening for about 4months now, it seemed to start when i fittend the linksys for my daughters laptop we got her for xmas but, all engineers who have been out said it was nothing to do with that.......i did disconnect the linksys for a day and it did still flash so it mustnt be that........have now got a new set top box and it seems better but i have had the flashing once in 3 days - before it used to be 3times in one day.............
thanks0 -
OK, then this sounds like a common Telepest fault. The exact same fault as I've had over and over again.
Do this for me, I want you to do this to each pace box you have.
Turn power off completely (unplug), below the channel display you will see a up/down/left/right button.
You need to hold down the up and down button at the same time and plug the box back in whilst keeping the buttons pressed (easier than it sounds)
After a time you should hopefuly see a blue screen appear, this is engineers mode or technician mode. Now you can release the up/down button and use the right key to scroll through the different pages in that mode.
Goto page 12 (says in top right corner) and look at your SNR estimate. Record result, do the same for Pre RS error rate (take a average from what you have seen)
Do this for all boxs you have and report back your findings.
Telewest are a pain for this, they overload there cabinets big-time to take more people on - when really the engineers should be requesting a cabinet upgrade to accomadate the users needing cable. This doesnt look good when it comes to managment graphs/charts KPI's etc etc etc
So instead of upgrading cabinets they have another way, and this is to split the output board inside the cabinets thus allowing for double the amount of users. Very good in theory, but it can cause problems, a splitter also acts as a attenuator, lowering the Signal to noise ratio. If you are 180meters or feet away from the cabinet then your SNR will be on border level if not too low.
29.0dB SNR is the real limit that the engineers work to. Anything above this and you should be fine, anything below this can cause probs.
The cabinets have various coloured output boards each having a differen output level. Some are low level outputs and some are higher outputs. If some1 else on your street gets cable and the engineer has problems with it he/she will prolly move them onto a higher output board - but to do this usualy means taking some1 else off it to put them on a lower output (engineers do not care about other people other than the person they are dealing with at that time)
Because you have so many digi box's + modem you will need more output than me for example as I only run one digi box and modem.
The light you sometimes see flashing is the internal modem light, it shouldnt flash. This usualy means your SNR is too low and the digi box internal modem can't sync-up.
