DLA Renewal time scales

Does anyone know what the renewal time scale for DLA is.
My husband was quoted 12 weeks. I said you did say renewal and he said yes.
I thought 12 weeks was for new claims. They have had it 3 weeks and the claim ran out last friday ho hum. 9 weeks to go then.
Thanks in advance.

Calley
this happens when you delay returning the renewal forms, theres a danger the claim will run out.
most claims new or renewal take around 12 weeks0 -
Two weeks it took for mine. They granted it for three years. Was shocked, three years! somebody told me then ext time it probably be indefinate.0

my mum is on indefinate dla, but her circumstances have changed - we filled in a form and was quoted 12 weeks, we did have a letter to say it was being looked into.
Did you not get a reminder off the DLA, when I filled in my forms last yr, I'dput them in the 2do pile, a month later they were still there, but I did get a reminder to say I hadn't sent it back.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Husband rang DLA this morning not about his claim but related.
And they told him it has been renewed and letter on it's way to him. So approx 4 weeks.
Not bad.

I work on the helpline, so maybe I can offer a bit of insight. I quote 10-12 weeks starting from day the claim pack is registered. A decision is usually made on special rules claims within 2 weeks.
Sometimes they take longer, sometimes shorter, it's mostly down to how fast we receive information back from the sources we requested it from, and the quality of the information we get back.
I wouldn't really bother ringing up for a progress check unless you haven't received the letter to confirm that the claim pack has been received, or it's been over 12 weeks since we received it.
And always have your NINO/reference number to hand (as well as bank details if you don't remember your sort code and account number) when calling the helpline!:D0
