Scrap value of car?
I have a Ford KA mot failure which needs scrapping. I have called around a few scrap yards and they have asked me what do I want for it
I have no idea what the car is worth as scrap! I have seen the webuyanycar coming up with a miniumum of £50. Any ideas if that is a fair amount to ask the scrap yard for? ( I was expecting to pay them to take the car so anything really is a bonus!)
Thanks

Why not start your conversation with them by saying 'How much will you give me for a scrap Ford Ka?'
If they still ask you what you want tell them you'd like them to make you an offer.0 -
If you're happy for £50 then ask for that.0

Why did it fail the MOT?
Is it for things a competent mechanic could put right themselves but you can't afford to fix because the labour charges would be too high?0 -
If you can drive it there start higher than that. There's a lot of money to be made in scrap.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

A Car Breaker will usually pay more than a Scrap Yard, they will also issue a DVLA Approved Certificate of Destruction.
£50 sounds about right for a Ford KA.0 -
we buy any car require you to DRIVE the car to them.
Just to give you an indication I scrapped an N reg fiesta in the summer (Fundamentally the same car) and the scrappers offered me £50 collected for it until I told them how much stuff I'd removed (then they said they'd collect it, but no cash )
What did it fail on? I'd lay a wager that it was play in the wishbones :cool:Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
My daughter's Matiz (W Reg) failed its MOT in March, needing a fair bit of work including welding, garage quote being £900 work. Had hoped to use it for the scrappage, but it failed just before the scheme started. A Scrap dealer gave me £40 to take it away as it was "a light car".0

Don't scrappers pay by weight? And as the ka is probably 99% plastic, and 1% rust, £50 sounds a fair deal.0

i scrapped a v reg ford ka back a year ago for a friend it had no engine (took it out and put in his fiesta as lower mileage and better condition) it failed on chassis being sunday best (hole's everywhere) no suspension no brakes or hubs no driveshafts and he collected it and gave my m8 £90.0

Dealers round here pay £60 per tonne. You could send it to a breakers for a quick bit of money. You could list it on ebay as MOT failure listing what it failed on, someone might think its worth a bit more if they think they can fix it. Failing that break it yourself and sell the parts, obviously takes a bit longer to get your money and you need space to break it.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
