TV & Home Cinema System Help

Hope for some advice. We've finially stepped into the 21st century and are changing the TV arrangement. The last TV was bought maybe 6 years ago and had an inbuilt dvd & video player. Things technologically have moved so fast & I'm pretty ignorant about what's the right stuff to get.
Right, I've bought a Samsung LE40B530-P7 40inch LCD HD 1080p (thanks to Hotukdeals). Bought but not delivered yet.Intend to have it wall mounted so anyone know the right wall mounting kit/recommend a supplier etc ?. I'm looking at the Panasonic SC-PTX60EB-K DVD Home Cinema System, Comet have said it's compatible with the TV. Don't need a Blueray player, not compentent to use it for the laptop/computer, will need a freesat box. How many cables ( HDMI ??) will I need ........... plus basically have I forgotten or missed anything out ?
Hopefully this will be fitted by someone else who knows what he's doing. I just want to have everything he needs when he comes out to do it.

Somerset,
a very good site for all AV questions is ..AV Forums. What those posters do not know about AV isn't worth knowing in the first place0 -
Hi, for mounting brackets try www.theplasmacentre.com and for hdmi cables try www.tamarshop.co.uk
Always best to have a spare cable so if you order 3 you should be ok, don't be misled into paying over £20 each, depending on the length you need ,£10 gets you a good cable. If you are buying a home cinema kit you should get all the speaker cables with it so inconjunction with any existing cables you should be sorted.0 -
You will need one HDMI lead from the Freesat box to the TV
Another from the home cinema system to the TV
(That TV has 3 HDMI sockets I believe)
Not sure what you mean about a blu-ray player and computer? We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Not sure what you mean about a blu-ray player and computer?
Just that (if I had a blue-ray but I don't) it could play on the tv, and from reading (and it going completely over my head) you can 'plug' a computer/laptop into the 'system' and watch computer stuff on tv ?? like footie matches that you've streamed onto your computer.
My point being that at this stage I just need the basic stuff - tv, dvd, freesat etc, and hopefully I can learn more and become a bit more 'with it' to the point where I can use the more advanced bits possible/available with the system.
Thanks for the help so far
Yours Sincerely
A numpty :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
hi there,
I don't see why the cinema system you were looking at wouldn't work with the tv. It's all about the connections really and anything new will include hdmi etc
And to save a few bob, there is really not much difference in hdmi cable quality, I would expect to spend a couple of quid on each one.
In terms of the wall mount, there are some bargains to be had on ebay, just make sure you check the sellers feedback to ensure you get a quality product. I trust one of you is fairly confident with diy?0 -

Nope, neither of us!! So I've asked a mate who knows someone ..... No way would I try to install this tv and if my O/H tried I'd divorce him :rotfl:0
