Need help with wireless connection
Comments
-
think it only has ethernet connections, can I not connect it through the laptop?0
-
You could, but you'll still want to connect the PC to the router either wired or wirelessly and that means buying either a network card or wireless adapter for it. In any case it doesn't make sense to wire your nice portable laptop to the router when your big heavy PC should be doing this.0

so the best thing would be for me to buy an ethernet card thingy for the pc?0

It is really straightforward to install a card (provided that you have a spare slot), you just undo the case, one screw, slot it in, put the screw back on, and put the lid back on.
People here will talk you through it if you get stuck.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

If your main PC does not have a network card, you could fit one similar to this. You could then connect the modem to your wireless router and then from this to your main PC via an Ethernet cable. The laptop could then connect using the USB wireless dongle.

3. Under Network Tasks, select Change settings of this connection.
4. Click on WirelessNetworks Tab.
