That's all very well suggesting a customer phones the local branch !!! I have been in Nationwide and the phone have been left ringing and not answered .
While I have some sympathy for the staff as I would not want or expect staff to put there lives at risk to keep a branch open but I am afraid that sums up Nationwide!! poor rates on savings account, poor customer service ,bring back the days when being a mutual meant something0 -
Have you seen the fuss the snow has caused?? If anything, we complain too much!Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
"Never in the history of the world has there been a situation so bad that the government can't make it worse." Unknown0 -

The lady said that I needed to go into the branch to do this as, with a passbook, this could only be done in the branch
It really is time to move your banking/savings arrangements in to the 21st century and start using online services with a provider who can allow you to move money around from the warmth of your armchair.0 -
While we are prepared to put up with poor service we will get poor service .!!!
I think its all comes down to poor training and employing people who have no interest in there work .
John Lewis is a good example of knowledgeable staff who are not commissioned motivated and there sales figurers for Christmas showed the benefit.
My dealing with Nationwide over the last 12 months since they have taken over Derbyshire etc. has been appalling but must add not from the local branch as the staff there have been there many years and know there job inside out!! but there head office call centre staff just gave out the wrong information which could have ended up costing me money0 -
What Jack Spratt said. John Lewis is my default shop for anything these days.
Since I briefly had an account with Nationwide a couple of years ago I vowed never to touch them again. The experience has left me scarred.0 -
Exceptional circumstances with this weather,Mystic. Time to give and take.0

I totally agree. They advertise about the benefits of being a mutual but, we the customers most definitely don't benefit these days. Their rates are awful and I'm sure it's because they are so large now that they don't have to bother but look at the salaries and benefits the directors get:mad:0 -
Sorry, but you don't turn your finances upside down (change mortgage, bank account etc) on the basis of one bad, and very minor, experience! Nationwide are actually a good and highly rated financial institution.0

Whats wrong with using the Natonwide online system - then no need to visit a branch at all!
Cant remember the last time I actually visited them!0
