and still people go...
Best not mention its name..... think they get upset at the publicity ( I get upset remembering it) .. I went 10 yrs ago ( before internet forums were so common) although left on arrival !!!!!!
Strangly revisted Malta last year ..and stayed around the corner .... it does not seem any betterAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
payless wrote:which hotel did you stay at ? Whilst they will package Britishjet flights with various hotels, MB are known for one hotel in particular....
Yes !!!
I stayed at The Palm Court, presumably this is the one you mean ??
4 years ago it was on Holidays from Hell, a friend of mine lent me a video of the programme before I went, and it was horrifying, but I had been promised it had improved.
It is a long time since I actually stayed in a hotel, usually I go self catering, so I didn't have much to compare it to, but I was impressed. I work as a Customer Service Evaluator and have seen many a dingy dump and I only had a few critisisms of this hotel, mainly the corridors were too narrow and uneven (bit difficult to change that one) too few lifts and some areas needed decorating. We had been warned about dodgy wiring and shower units that fall off the wall, but there was nothing like that nor any mention from other guests.
We even had some people down grade from the Qawra Palace, as they felt the place was awful and were really impressed with the PC."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
as I said seen it in 1996 and again in 2005...
1996... when dropped off no way would I stay there ( the alternative offered Euroclub ... was no better really )
2005 .. I could see their pool area from the roof top bathing area of my hotel... could not say it was much different, and walking past the hotel I can't say I would whav wanted to stay there again.
So I would not go there if they paid me , although like your post, I have seen many internet posts from people that were happy - last year I flew ( flight only) with British jet ( - part of the same firm and that was good) but did mean I waited in the checkin queue with lots of people who stayed at that hotel and the comments were very different .Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
To be honest we never made it to the roof top, we knew there was a pool up there, but it is only open in the winter months and the evening entertainment was on the top floor, but children were not allowed up there, so there was no need for us to venture there. We did have a chance to go in the indoor pool once when the weather was dull, that wasn't too bad, but had an overwelming smell of chlorine. Apparently there had been a lot of decorating done over the winter of 2005/2006 and the place did have a feeling of freshness to it. I suppose the thing that impressed me the most was the quality, variety and quantity of food, even my Son who is the worlds fussiest eater found plenty to eat, but I did wish and asked for it every day, that they put out enough serving utensils, I have an egg allergy and the number of times I found the egg spoon had been used for other foods was unreal, the staff got quite used to me asking for uncontaminated food.
it would have been so much easier for them to provide another set of tongs.

I meant I could see the main pool from our roof top....
different people, different requirementsAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Where were you staying to see the main pool? , I was under the impression it was hidden from other hotels as it was in the centre of the hotel, surrounded by rooms up to 6 floors high
Not disbelieving you, I just can't work out where anyone would be standing in order to see it. Even the hotel said it was totally un-overlooked apart from those actually staying at the PC."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
Ohhh, do not touch Malta bargins with a barge pole, Palm Court is certianly a Holiday from hell, it is a use to get more money out of you to change the hotel when they have you over a barrel.0

The roof sun-bathing area of the Club Riza . on Triq ir-Rizzi.( they actually back on to each other.. buildings touch in places ... ) Ok I was right on the edge of the building ... way past the safety line.. but I wanted a peak... they are right in that the rooms of club Riza all look into the pool ( or road ) and not the other hotls's pool ( thankfully)
From Club Riza where I stayed last year on an RCI exchange we had to go round the corner to get to the Club Salina Wharf , Triq Il-Majjiera ( where I own an apartment) this meant coming out the main enterance , turning tright passing the front of the hotel in question ( I don't mention the name... gives me cold sweats), and turning right again ( yes a pain as this lead to rear exot of Club Riza... which was always locked
just checked on google earth ... even the clour of the pool is different ( thats likely harsh , as its in the shade )Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

Each to their own springs to mind.
I am not sure what you mean by your comment, it is a use to get more money out of you.
As I said in my earlier posting, I am a single Mum with 2 children, I don't have any financial help from my ex and I live on a very tight budget. Half board for a week for all of us was only £350. I took £400 spending and bought £150 back. For a good cheap holiday, it did us well and if anyone is looking for the same, I would recommend it. If people wanted a 5* luxury hotel, I would not.
Every day we went to Golden Bay picking up lunch from a shop on the way, so no need to stay by the pool all day and drink or eat from the hotel, we always had a very good breakfast (meaning quantity) so didn't have the need to snack at all.
Payless comes up with objections, backed up with comments, it makes good interesting reading and gives people a chance to make up their own minds, what bad experiences have you had to come up with such a blunt comment ?
I have since met someone who did stay there and wasn't happy, she felt she had been mis-sold the holiday, she made a claim with either Abta / Atol, I can't remember which she said and she got 50% of the cost of her holiday back. (this was in 2004 when the brochure said they had 5 pools and they only had 1 which was open)"Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
Hi
Im still unsure need to get myself and 3 kids from Faro Airport Portugal to Mirachoro II Appartment - Portimao.
Would you book transfers or take the gamble with a taxi at the Air port.
Best prebooked transfer is around 100.
Thanks
