External Gas Pipe

I had a new boiler fitted in the summer and when they installed it, they moved the boiler from the bedroom to the kitchen (great!!)

What the workmen did, was to run a pipe outside the house against the wall from the gas supply to the boiler. So the pipe outside is all exposed to the cold elements.

I assume that this is AOK? There is only gas in the copper (?) pipes, but the cold extremes aren't going to cause splits or anything??? I am sure that they wouldn't have done it if it was going to cause a problem, but thought I would check.

It'll be fine. Its frozen water in copper pipes that cause them leaks when it thaws.

    Cheers

You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.

Good morning: the freezing point of natural gas is almost -300 degrees F...not quite there yet..just hope they've properly sized and insulated the condensate waste pipe if required.

Good morning.......I've got the same problem - trying to thaw the condensate pipe now. Should there be a smell of gas when I keep trying to reset the boiler and also, should the pilot light be out whilst its showing EA?

Thanks! I assumed it would be OK, but always best to check.

How would I recognise the condensation pipe, so I can make sure thats ok?

    Hi

Follow it out from the boiler.
22mm white plastic pipe or larger 32mm black /grey/white waste pipe.

    Hi

Is there only a smell when you try resetting?Or all the time.
Do you have the casing off?
There is no permanent pilot light. There is no sight glass to see one either:confused:
