  • I just noticed that certain individuals (I won't name here but have in the public domain) who were involved in Consumer Advice UK also are involved in the following businesses:-

Other addresses / businesses where these individuals can be reached are: -
“No Sign Bar” based at 56 Wind Street, Swansea, SA1 1EG
    Rabaiotti’s Chip Shop – 7 Wind Street, Swansea, SA1 1AD
7 Financial Services – The Exchange Buildings, Adelaide Street, Swansea, SA1 1SE (or SA1 1SH)
Meridian Bay Ltd – Apartment 71, Meridian Bay, Trawler Road, Swansea, SA1 1PL

Notice how Rabaiotti's Chip Shop, Swansea is registered at EXACTLY the same address as 7 Marketing...

How can 2 legitimate running businesses fold up companies but not be liable for the losses incurred from folding up Consumer Advice UK?

One word for them all crooks...
  • Apologies to all, it looks like 7 Marketing aka Consumer Advice UK are trading again....

There's another forum post open with more detail:

These guys from 7 Marketing and Consumer Advice UK are back and trading as .........

    UK Money Solutions Ltd

I have checked out some background info and have establised that they are using the same registered address as some of their other dubious interests based in Swansea.

    Buyer Beware

I have just spoken to the guys from UK Money Solutions in Birmingham and they are legit.

They are aware of the activities being conducted by the bunch in Swansea and told me that they have no association whatsoever with them and that the MOJ and OFT are aware of the Swansea Swindle and that they are being investigated.
  • I finally got a reply from the OFT: -

Consumer Credit Act 1974 (the Act)
Complaint Against: UK Money Solutions Ltd & 7 Marketing Limited t/a Consumer Advice UK
    Licence No: Unlicenced

Thank you for your email received on 15 April 2010.

Under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, if a business wishes to be involved in activities relating to consumer credit or hire, including debt collection and debt management, they must have a consumer credit licence. The Office of Fair Trading (the OFT) has duty to enforce the Act, along with local authority Trading Standards Services (TSS).

Upon checking the information provided in your email, it appears that these traders does not hold consumer credit licence. I have therefore forwarded your complaint to the TSS where the trader is based for it to consider investigating the matter of unlicensed trading in their area. The TSS is:

    City and County of Swansea
    Environment and Health Department
    The Guildhall
    Swansea
    SA1 4PE
    t: 01792 635600
    f: 01792 635676
w: City and County of Swansea Trading Standards website

Your local TSS may be able to provide further advice, or you may wish to consider seeking independent legal advice.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

    Yours sincerely

  • I have also been copied in on the email that was sent onto the TSS

    Dear Sir/Madam

Consumer Credit Act 1974 (the Act)
Complaint Against: UK Money Solutions Ltd & 7 Marketing Limited t/a Consumer Advice UK
    Licence No: Unlicenced

The OFT has received a complaint about the above mentioned traders. Please see the attached correspondence which gives further details about this.

Traders who are engaged in activities relating to consumer credit or hire, the collection of consumer debt, or commercial debt management need a consumer credit licence. However, according to our records, this trader does not hold a consumer credit licence.

Since this trader appears to be based in your local authority’s area you may wish to investigate whether this trader has been engaging in unlicensed trading.
