please help me go wireless on my dell 1150

my dell lappy was purchased april 2005...can anyone confirm if i need anything else other than a router to go wireless? ie..pc card etc...or is everything included within?

i really havent a clue!! so if anyone got some time to explain what i need to do other then setting up the wireless router i would much appreciate it:smiley:

    As far as I can see, your laptop has built in wireless so you dont need additional hardware beyond a wireless router.

    If you right click on the Local Area Network Connections icon (far right in post #4) and select Open Network Connections. If you have wireless you will see it there. I would guess that this would have been an optional extra from Dell in April 2005.

    Hi freebies, my Inspiron 1150 wasn't 'wireless ready', but I think I bought mine at least a year before you bought yours. I had to buy a router and an adapter - I bought a USB adapter rather than card, but only because Amazon was doing a bundle offer at the time on a Netgear router and USB adapter.

    I would recommend a PCMCIA card similar to this rather than a USB dongle!

    If you go into Control Panel, see if there is a Wireless Network Connection icon in there.

    ive got wireless set up wizard icon if that means any thing...i remember the spec quoting the b/g thing.....any advice

    My apologies, I meant see if there is a Wireless Network Connection icon in the Network Connections.

    Go into Control Panel and find the Network Connections icon. Double click it and see if you have an icon similar to this one that is circled in red on the right:
