standard charge for a broadband cease , unless you ask for a MAC code and migrate they are allowed to charge you for the recovery work in the exchange. Been doing it for years so its not a new thing and Ofcom sanction it as fairEx forum ambassador

If you migrate your broadband service to Orange (or any other ISP) by using a MAC, then no cease charge will apply.
But if you are cancelling your BT line rental then you won't be able to migrate your broadband anywhere else, as you won't have a line to receive broadband on!No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
yea i know was getting line and broadband from orange
its all very confusing thanks
is it best to migrate first ? then cancel line rental????0 -
Get your MAC code and give that to Orange... they will then cancel your broadband with BT when they connect theirs up. They will also handle the line aswell so you don't need to do anything else with BT, and you do not get that charge. If Orange are going to provide you an LLU installation then you will not need a MAC code and Orange should cancel with BT for you.0

hi bt have got back to me saying i will have to pay £26 for broadband cancellation and £1.65 line cancellation why as my contracts are both up? and i am going to orange for both? help0

If you don't want to pay a cease charge, get a MAC from BT and give it to Orange, that way no charge applies. If you cancel with BT you will have to pay a cease charge and you will have a gap in your broadband service. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
