If it's a Ka, it doesn't matter, they are meant to be changed every 35k but they really should come out every year to prevent them rusting in place.

Yes they should - but if they are not due according to 'the schedule' and idiots stick by that - then this will happen. Ka's and Fiesta's are the main so and so's for this. Should be removed if not replaced each service and well greased or they corrode in.

If you think mechanics are idiots, why don't you service your car yourself? Oh that's right, you barely know what a dipstick looks like.

Tee hee, if only you knew about Jeannie's day job :D

No. You cannot alter the laws of physics.
Which laws are these? If you use a box spanner with the tommy bar centrally placed, there is no sideways thrust (when resolving the forces into three dimensions).

In theory the plug could work itself loose if fitted with copper grease, .
This does not appear to happen with nuts which are constantly flooded with engine oil eg within the rocker box, so why should it happen with spark plugs. If the spark plugs are torqued correctly, there should be no problem.

    to the OP

it may be a good idea to get to know the underneath of your bonnet too

i have previously paid for services only to find that something was not changed e.g air filter/oil filter etc but i had been charged for it.
now although i am a blonde woman, i did in a preivous life work in a garage and i have some idea what these things look like.

so it was easy to spot that the air filter was the same it went in with and it can drive mechanics/fitters insane that despite being a ditzy blonde ( i really am both) i can tell that they have not bothered to change the oil (same old oil filter on and black dirty oil on the dipstick instead of the greenish sheen of new oil) and i always complain and ask if there is anything else they are cahrging me for that is not in fact fitted on the car.
yes i probably could have serviced it my self but why bother when it would take me a whole day.

They are not idiots, they are following manufacturers guidelines. If you think mechanics are idiots, why don't you service your car yourself? Oh that's right, you barely know what a dipstick looks like.

Did I say ALL mechanics are idiots? That would make me an idiot for saying that! I'm saying that common sense, experience and knowledge should override the schedules! Take the blasted plugs out and grease them every service and replace when need be - but alot won't do that 'cos it doesn't state it in the schedule...'

Its not rocket science - even you should be able to understand that..

Use of Coppaslip should be compulsory on every screw thread on a car :)

Ah so the nuts in a rocker box are exposed to the same pressure as a spark plug ?
