The cable sold in Argos is totally unsuitable for use on cable services due to the amount of signal loss & connections used.
Your best bet would be,if you see an VM van, stop & ask the engineer to make one up for you & bung him a fiver.
Alternativly,you need this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98026
& 2 of these:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=10447
Make up the cable as shown here:

Unscrew the original cable from the Isolator (the white box on the wall) & fit the new one, making sure the connections are tight.

Sorry Nord, that cables unsuitable for use on cable installations,I've been to many a service call where ordinary CT100 type cable has been the problem cause.0

No worries, i've deleted my inaccurate post.
I Do appreciate you know more than me, having fitted them for a living.Oh what's the bloody point...?0 -
But don't buy it at Maplins, buy it on ebay, you will find no end of suppliers with lengths already made up with "f " connectors fitted, much better quality and much cheaper.0

No drama's mate. It's all to do with the amount of signal ingress & egress which causes noise on the network's forward & return path because it's not as shielded as RG59/RG6 CATV.0 -

I've had a look & this looks the right stuff.

And if you want the f plugs cheaper you can get a pack of 10 for 99 pence from toolstation.
