is a credit note my only option?

During the christmas period, my parents went into the Aspecto clothing and shoe store in Nottingham, in order to purchase me a new pair of UGG boots as a present.
Upon checking my current pair of uggs, my mum noted the size (3) and off she went!
On arrival at Aspecto, she asked a sales advisor for a pair of short classic chestnut boots in a size THREE.
However, the member of staff then told my mum, "UGG DO NOT MAKE SIZE THREES, your daughter MUST HAVE A SIZE FOUR, they are the smallest we sell."
On her advice my mum paid her £150 for a pair of size fours, satisfied I must own a size four as she has now been informed UGG don't make any smaller.
Unfortunately, christmas day arrived and I tried on my new boots, only to find they were deffinately too large. On comparison with my original pair of the same boot, mine were infact a size three! Therefore proving UGG do in fact make size three!
My parents and I then went back to the Aspecto store, and asked for an explanation.
The whole sales team got involved, and we were then being told size threes were only RARE, not IMPOSSIBLE to buy! I was then told, "your chances of buying a size three are slim to none." Despite my original size three pair being brought from the same Aspecto store only months previously.
We then asked for a refund, and were told we could only have a store credit note.
Usually this would be satisfactory, but the staff then told us they don't have any of the boots in the particular style in a size three.
To add further confusion, upon checking the Aspecto website, you can actually buy size threes online. Because of this i asked for a refund as you cannot use the credit note online. This was declined.
Finally, the store actually sell a childs version of the boot identicle to the one my mother brought, IN A SIZE THREE. When my mum brought the shoes, the sales advisor failed to inform my mother of this alternative, whcih makes me think she was purely concentrating on achieving a christmas sale, as the childs boots are a good amount cheaper than the £150 adult version.
Overall, I am now stuck with £150 pair of boots in the wrong size, with my only other option being a £150 credit note for a store that doesnt sell the boot in my size.
I can see that a credit note is usually satisfactory, but surely if they cannot supply the replacement in store, but online I could buy them, they should give me my money back.
Also, it was not my mother's mistake, she was conned into buying the wrong shoe, and £150 is a lot of money to waste!
Please help, I know this is a bit of a ranting essay but I need to know whether I can argue my case or i really have no other option.
The staff had poor customer service skills, and failed to serve a customer (my mum) honestly and with correct and true facts.
Thanks for reading! Please get back to me to save me loosing my money!

i know i'll probably be lambasted for this, but if i was buying shoes for myself or for someone else like in this case, if i was after a size 3 and was told that for whatever reason they didn't have a 3, i wouldn't then go and buy a 4. clearly they're going to be too big.
i wouldn't say the CS was dishonest - they didn't tell your mum they were a 3 and sold her a 4. she knew she was buying a size 4 and surely she knows that a 4 is bigger than a 3. yes, she said they don't make them in a 3 but i don't really think someone would tell you this to sell you a shoe size that wont fit!helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
There is no right to have a refund (or even a replacement) on any goods that you "don't want anymore". Your mum had a chance to inspect the goods prior to purchase so you have no entitlement to a refund.0

I don't think there's a 'right' to a refund. However, morally, once again the store did give out incorrect information, which lead to a customer making an incorrect decision.
My advice would be to write to head office of the company, explain exactly what's happened without being too biased. Tell them the store is happy to offer you a credit note, however, you want the boots on-line from their company and you can't use the credit note for that. Can they help on thsi one occasion in allowing you to have the boots from the website instead of the credit note.0 -
your mother wasnt conned, the lady said they were a size 4 and your mother accepted that and bought them.
Why not get the childs size 3 and buy something else with the difference in the credit note,
I dont see where your getting this big problem from.
or wait till your feet grow and you fit into them.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Agree about writing to head Office.0

Thanks! i just telephoned the director of the company, who said "they have no idea what theyre talking about, i'll sort you out with a full refund and order the correct size for you" Thanks for advising me, i was quite hesitant to argue my case but im glad i did!0

i don't mean to argue, but im not saying she was conned into buying a size four shoe, im saying she was conned into believing UGG absolutely do not make size threes anymore! Perhaps thats my unclear ranting and raving that made that unclear sorry!0

well i dont think you really helped in any way, i was simply asking for advice not your opinion on whether you think this is a big problem or not.
