Rubbish Toshiba laptop needing repairing, advice please

  • Most lappies of all brands have the same user induced problems. People kill them by smothering or detaching them from power.

A laptop on your knee / bed / armchair will die from heat :
    - they breathe and exhale through the bottom
    - the PSU generates more heat than the CPU. Etc

The power plug & cable similarly is bent / twisted / etc over years until it breaks :
    - if it's a cable break it can be repaired & sleeved
    - if it's the plug it can be replaced re-soldered
    - if it's the female side into the MOBO they are often impossible to repair cheaply

None of the above are warrantable , sorry !

You can buy a USB powered hub from ALDI for seven quid that will allow 27 devices to be connected to it, there is one solution

""Power plug sunk into the casing"" is a when - not if ! It will go! You will need to be 'delicate' with this if you are to get a-n-other month / year out of the product.

I get at least one a month with exactly the same power / in problem and you know 90% of them could be avoided if the makers of the 'wall warts' would fit a 90 degree plug rather than a straight.

The laptop is only ever plugged in when it is sat on the desk, if I have it on my knee it is on a fan and unplugged from the mains.

I have got a USB hub which works perfectly on every other laptop in the house, put it in mine, in lights up but anything plugged into it won't work.

Think I'm going to have to invest in a new laptop, which most definately won't be a Toshiba!
