Advice Please-Phone Not Working

the phone got wet yesterday so give it a couple of days to dry out fully
put it somewhere warm until tomorrow
even better lay it on a 'bed' of raw rice to help draw out the moisture
Sorry to sound dumb, but do I pour the rice over the phone? Do you me the dry and uncooked rice lol? Or can I just stick it in the packet of rice? Many thanks.
I did phone orange and they confirmed the lady did not add the insurance to my account back in October so she has added it on to my account. I did not mention my phone not working in the hope that the rice will dry out the phone and my phone will work.
I have also been suggested to buy a new battery. I will wait till saturday, hopefully it will work then.0 -

the rice is to draw some of the moisture out of the phone
so sit on top or in a bowl or whatever you think suits0 -
thank you, will do that now.0

thank you, will do that now.
Also Very Important (cant believe nobody mentioned this)....
Take the battery out immediately.
Even if the phone is switched off (or not switching on as in your case) the battery is still live and can cause damage to internal components when combined with the moisture.
I wouldnt worry so much about the rice etc. just keep it somewhere warm and dry, and the longer the better.
Good luck

My friend told me, even if i did have insurance or got it, no company covers mobiles damaged through water.
No, that is the warrentry for the manufacturer to repair damaged phones, insurance will cover water damage.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Hi
Sorry about your luck with droping the phone in the water, I spilt half a cup of water on my laptop recently, I dired it out before switching it on and it worked fine.
I had exactly the same problem with Orange, I could have sworn when I upgraded that I asked them to put insurance on my phone but after my phone got stolen I found out that it was not added to my account and that Orange couldnt retrive the call logs to verify it.
They kept telling me that any upgrade agent would put insurance on the phone if I asked for it because they get commison from it so its not something they would forget. They just kept druming it down that I couldnt have asked for insurance that started to dout myself and just let it go, but reading your post has helped validate that I wasnt loosing my mind lol.
Luckily Orange have an emergency replacment service they charge around £68 for normal phones and in the range of £150-160 for high end phones which is what I paid for since I couldnt claim on insurance. Better then nothing
Try and get through to Orange insurance and speak to a supervisor their and explain your case that you asked for insurance and assumed you had it on your account. Hope you get someone in a good mood :P

Thanks for all your replies. Well I received a letter from Orange today stating that I could not have insurance with them even though I was told on the 7th of january that insurance had been added. That is the 2nd time I was told insurance had been added to my account.
I rang Orange immediatly and asked why this had been done and I was told that when I had not upgraded through Orange. I stated I had as it was Orange who rang me and when she checked she apologised and put me on hold. She then told me that I had not registered my sim card. I was not told that I had to register my sim card as she said if your new simcard is not registered, you cannot get insurance. She stated I should of been told this when I upgraded my phone.
I was pretty confused by this so I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor rang me back and he was not at all helpful. He stated there was no log on my account to show that I phoned them in October to request insurance. How is that possible? He basically told me that when I got my new phone, it would of stated stated this. However when I phoned up for the insurance, I assumed that it had been done. The supervisor was not helpful at all and quite unhelpful. I asked how it would be possible for a member of staff to log into my account and leave no comment regarding my call. When I worked in customer services, we always had to leave a note when a customer called.
Anyway to cut the story short he said my complaint cannot be taken any further and the insurance was already on my account. I asked who put the insurance on my account when I had been told it was not possible until I registered my sim card and he then said he could NOT tell me who had added my insurance and that he had resolved my issue with the insurance in which i told him that my sim card was still not registered so how could that be possible.
As for my phone, well it is not working. It switches on but there is no signal what so ever :-(
I did not mention my phone to Orange as yet as I do not know what to do as I am worried due to being messed around with the insurance that It will not be covered. I have only had the phone for 3 months. I was told by a friend that you have to wait a month before you can contact the insurance company.
Im not having much luck. Can anyone suggest what I do from here? Many thanks.0 -
Any advice would be much appreciated.0

Query this in writing by recorded delivery so you have a paper trail, you are getting mixed responses by phone which is fairly typical.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Thank you for the reply. I received a letter 2 days ago stating I am now covered and with the insurance details. Would you know if it is true that I have to wait a month before I can claim? I have read the policy but it does not state that, nor does it state that it does not cover water damage. But I feel I have left it to long now so they will not help me in getting my phone repaired.0
