Hi I have an Egg credit card with £1900 balance, of which I just tried to transfer to my new ASDA 0% for 12 months card... and was told that the balance transfer couldnt go through from Egg, that ASDA didnt accept it. Im mightily p'eed off because Ive orchestrated all my balance transfers around this and my only option left is to put the £1900 onto my HBOS card under an existing 0% offer that theyve offered me, although this one is only for 6 months, not 12
But Im worried Im going to ring HBOS to transfer and they're going to say they dont accept it either.... and now Im thinking, am I stuck with this Egg balance at a hefty 19% because no one will accept it??!!
Has anyone come across this before??

What's your credit limit on ASDA - is there enough room for 1900 plus fees?0
-
Yeah the limit is £3000 - I asked the guy why it wouldnt go through and he said they dont accept transfers from that particular lender (Egg).
Completely confused? Surely I cant be lumbered with an un-transferable balance?0

I've just encountered the same problem. I have a £5000 limit on my Asda card and wanted to transfer £3000 from my Egg card only to be told that it wouldn't go through. The lady I was speaking to transferred me to another operator who I was told would be able to help... she couldn't - apparently they don't do Egg card balance transfers!
After many balance transfers over the years, I've never known a situation like this. Any ideas?0

Sounds like an Asda problem. Not heard of general problems with Santander cards, and never had any problems using Egg Money card for stoozing."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0

I have just had the same problem, accepted for asda reward card but they will not balance transfer £1,700 from my egg card even though they have offered £5,ooo to us. Anyone had any answers yet to why not ?0

Hi Viallis, the only solution I can think of is that the Asda credit card is a part of Egg. Obviously Asda isnt a lender in itself, so they contract it out to other lenders (you usually see it on the smallprint "lending services provided by MBNA/Bank Of Scotland..." etc) so my best guess is that ASDA credit card and Egg card are the same lender just different products - it'be be like trying to transfer a Halifax balance to a HBOS card - they wont let you do that either x0

Egg are part of the Santander network - Asda are with CitiGroup, so the answer is not that they are part of the same group.

Oh, can anyone think of any other reason then why I wouldnt be allowed to transfer an Egg balance to Asda?? That was the only thing I could think of?!?!0

cant really help with reasons why not but just googled it and someone on another forum did say they could not to a balance transfer from a barclaycard not that it helps you but would be interesting to see who has been able to make transfers to asda cc and from which company0
