Cheap PAYG Ideas Please?
Hi my dad wants to finally get a mobile phone but he wants to spend very little on one :rolleyes:
I'm sure his limit will be around £20.
He's looking at LG GB102 as he's seen this in the paper for under a fiver from carphone warehouse only problem is I'm pretty sure it will be locked to one of the main networks.
I've told him I doubt this can be unlocked for free and it will definitely be false economy. The networks he needs to be on is asda or tesco cos he will be using it very little so he definitely needs to get an unlocked phone as he wouldn't use any of the topup offers for free texts on other networks.
Does anyone know a cheap phone that a) you can either buy unlocked or b) you can unlock for free please with a simple code.
Doesn't have to be anything fancy cos I am 100% positive he will only be using it to make a handful of calls and definitely couldn't see him texting.
If anyone can suggest things that would be great as I'm getting bogged down checking unsuitable cheap phones he's suggested so far all of which appear to be unable to be unlocked cheaply anyway.
Hoping some kind people on here can give me some ideas thanks to all who respond in advance.

I thought most phones from the Carphone Warehouse were supplied unlocked. In any case, you can ask them in store before you buy. However, the phone for £5 in CPW will almost certainly be conditional on buying at least £10 of credit for one of the major networks.
Rather than buying an unlocked phone, why not just buy one from the network he intends to use?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
