Play.com and BargainCrazy: Time from despatch to delivery?

Hi All -

I ordered a couple of things from Play.com (a pair of speakers) and BargainCrazy (a desk) just before Christmas. Had despatch confirmations on Christmas Eve from BC and 27/12 (!) from Play. Yet nothing has yet materialized on my doorstep.

Now I appreciate it's been the Holiday period and the weather is probably not helping with deliveries either, but how much longer may I have to wait?

Another culprit is BangCD: Ordered a DVD on 21/12, website is still showing an expected despatch date of 29/12 with nothing happening. :mad:

Would anybody care to share their own experiences?

Would probably wait for play.com til after the weekend before contacting them. They are known to take a long time in delivering their items, sending them standard post.

I've waited over a week to receive something from them, and there was no bad weather and no bank holidays at the time!

Well those speakers are fairly large, so would come by courier rather than post. No indication of carrier (let alone a tracking no.) on website though. Play.com has an automated system for raising delivery issues - but this does not allow you to raise delivery queries until 21 days (!) after despatch ...

Hmmm..well I have used play.com. Not sure about delivery times but they do tend to be slowish compared to others. As for Bang, I did get my order, but delivery was a month plus. It was also well over a week between my despatch email & delivery.

I ordered a small pair of earphones on 27 Dec also. It stated on the page that they were in stock and usually dispatched within 24 hours, it took them several days to dispatch and STILL nothing has arrived.

I will never use them again, it take way tttttttttooooooooo long for them to dispatch.

Ah, the infamous Play.com packaging issue. :rotfl:If you weren't aware of their novel approach, there are a few prime examples on the www.bitterwallet.com blog. I just hope they've shipped my speakers in the manufacturer's original packaging.

I ordered a memory card from Play on the 27th December. Had an order confirmation e-mail but still no dispatch e-mail. Considering cancelling as even though it was much cheaper than those in the shops, what use is my new digital camera without a memory card???????

They dispatched the order on 2 January, in my opinion way too long to dispatch if they state on the website that it was in stock and ready to dispatch in 24 hours.

I have had a call from home to say that the goods have arrived today, so its not RM fault at all. Play should dispatch within 24 hours if that is what their website states.

Pleased to hear your stuff has arrived. Maybe we need to cut both Play and RM some slack for the days between Xmas and the New Year, but I agree it's still too long. Bear in mind they allegedly despatched my order 11 days ago ...
