Well, the £100 is for inconvenience specificaly and no other head of her claim (a head a claim is one area of damages/compensation/costs being claimed for, e.g. car hire is one head of claim). It is unusual to be asked for this, usualy cheques are just issues and marked in full and final settlement - then once it is banked you have accepted it as such for the specified head of claim or as a whole, depending on the workding. Maybe quinn have decided they want to be more watertight?

Did she ask for the inconvenience compensation? Insurer's don't usualy just offer this, and require it to be backed up with some evidence etc, so £100 seems quite good to me!

Personaly, I would say thanks to them, and that i would deal with this claim for inconvenice compensation once repairs are compelted.

To be honest, this letter/email is appauling - looks like someone badly trained at Quinn has just used their "initiative" rather than on of their standard text letters.

On the plus side, they appear to be being pro-active which is good. If the car is roadworthy, then all sounds in order. If the third party is at fault then your friend is entiteld for a like for like repalcement vehicle while theirs is off the road, or less. If they have a prestige car e.g. Merc E320 CDI, and don't mind a non brand for a week or so, then suggest that they don't mind a mondeo or vectra equiv in exchange for a higher inconvenience payment - saves the insurer money and they get a bit more compensation for the hassle!

It's difficult to know how inconvenienced you are likely to be as a result of the claim until it is resolved!

Having said that though the offer is generous, most insurers would offer £25 - £50 for inconvenience.

My friend didn't ask for inconvenience compensation and will probably not take a courtesy car as she doesn't want to risk someone else's car especially in the icy weather. So the £100 does look very good, it's just the form signing beforehand that seems odd to me. I'll suggest what dogbot says i.e. get the repair out the way then send them the signed form for the £100. There's no reason it can't be done that way round is there?
