  • Afternoon all - hope you're all wrapped up well!

    So far today: -
    • Checked online banking and all is still ok
    • Was given 2 jars of curry cook-in sauce by a friend who got them on special offer :D - something spicy when it's icy is rather nicey!
    • Got a book of 50p per day off drinks at Starbucks and gave it to the friend who gave me the curry sauce so she can save and so can I - by not going to Starbucks!
    • Realised it has been 11 days since I last used my credit card:j - this is the longest time I've gone without using it since I was 3 years old and that may not count as I didn't have a cc then:D
This was a planned spend day but it has been a low spend day - not like me (the old me) at all but a really nice change.

Sorry about this, but I have just read your post and well done for the surprising win!!! Yay!!!

What are the daily scratches that you have mentioned? Do they take long to do? Can you point me in the right direction to read up and maybe get started? Are they like the 'clicking' websites? (I used to do this but was far too distracted and never ended up fulfilling my daily clicks! Maybe its time to get started again!)

    Cheers

    T

    Thanks!

Here is info about the free scratchcards - definitely worth doing as you're guaranteed 10p a day - or more!

    • Bank checked, last of DDs gone out before pay day next week
    • meat marinating for yummy tea tonight
    • house tidy - no DS's in this afternoon which helps!
    • hung blanket up behind kitchen curtains to try and stop it being like Fay's ice cave. It's 13oc in there and the heatings been on all day.
    • must do Tesco home panel questionnaire
    • arranged to meet friend tomorrow - not seen before Christmas so lots of catching up to do
    • been for a walk/slide today to deliver DS3 to friends house
    • found out schools are closed tomorrow so need to make sure I am sorted for working from home - not short of things to do I have to say
    • socks on and stripey in spirit if not in reality
    • hokey cokey on - will be using tumble dryer though as not enough space to hang everything indoors
    • have books ready to return to library before they are due - but will take them tomorrow
    • make list of few bits and bobs I need from shop which I will get on route to library
    • consider wardrobe sort - but to cold in my bedroom to do that today ( don't put heating on upstairs other than bathroom normally although have snuck rad thermostat up to 2 for last few nights - reminds me of when I was little and water froze in a glass in my bedroom)
    • now going to have a coffee and enjoy the rare peace that has descended over our house
Have a good rest of the day and keep warm

Hi! I'm in the SE too... we tend to miss most the snow, but have the best of the weather in the summer, so I guess its a bit of a balance! (wouldn't mind another couple of inches of snow though, then I could stay at home and play rather than look at it out my window!

Today, I have done some 'clicks' and brought lunch in from home!

Hi natsplatnat, guess I was lucky as I decided to take a couple of days off work this week, so I could play in/hide from the snow at my leisure! :D I keep reminding myself of the lovely weather this little corner can produce in the summer... xx

Spent £8.02 in my local shops today , not really on anything to be proud of, but managed to get a bottle of beer (for tonight's bean and beer casserole) for £1. Will keep OH happy as I only need 250ml for the casserole, meaning he can enjoy the rest!

    Hi all.

My small DFW thing I've done today is to transfer £1000 to a 0% CC for 6 months. It will cost £29.00 but will save £61.00 over the 6 months. After that period I will be paying 6% less interest on it from then on. The interest I would have paid (had I left it on the original card) I shall use to overpay said card hence reducing that debt a little bit quicker.

So grateful that the Bank of England hasn't put the interest rates up yet! That's saving me a few bob each month which is going on my most expensive debts.

Touch wood, things are ok atm but worried about the impending increase in the BoE base interest rates going up but trying to knock a hole in those debts before that happens to give me some breathing room.

Hi everyone - an unexpected day off today. B didn't have school and then my car seized up so I shall have to make the hours up another day.

Well done on your lottery win Lilian - the stars were definitely shining for you last night!

    Today I:

    1) B and I watched The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, which we have had for weeks but not had a chance to watch together before.
    2) LSD - just bread.
    3) Leftovers for lunch.
    4) HM soup and toasties for dinner.
    5) Had a leaking water pipe under the garden fixed. Discovered this was happening due to an astronomical bill ( we are metered). It has been fixed free of charge as it was supposedly repaired last year, but obviously not properly. Still have to pay the water bill though. Bum.
    6) Slid to the library after T came out of school and exchanged our books for another huge pile.
    7) Checked bank, CCs, Quidco and did SC.
    8) Hokey cokey drying on radiators.
    9) Planning to watch a film on Iplayer tonight for free entertainment, and have a glass of wine from my Christmas stash.
    10) Kept warm in wooly hat and under a blanky to avoid putting heating on high.
    11) Didn't buy a paper. This is a hard habit to break!

    Have a good evening, L x
