Ames is pretty resilient - she'll be fine
I'm not sure she would be able to get insurance unless she went with a specialist broker though - however if flights are cancelled due to weather the airline have a duty of care to feed/house you depending on the length of delay...mind you didnt she fly ryanair? Their airport in Venice is pretty naff - but I've slept there and its decently warm enough0 -

I think she is flying back into Liverpool though...I was more worried about her making the journey back from there. did she drive in the end and park her car or did she take the coach....
