How did you decide on a theme

Debenhams had THE most gorgeous purple grecian maxi dress in the sale would look fab for bridesmaids... even OH was obsessed with it- but we've orded too much in champagne now to change our minds x
You could still add a little purple if you are in love with the colour.Purple ribbon for the bouquets, maybe a few purple flowers.Purple buttonholes for the men will still go with all the champagne items.
I had purple petals on my white tablecloth and tiny purple ribbons at the top of my white linen menus and that was enough to get my favourite colour into the room.It looked amazing."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
I was completely fixated on having teal as my colour.
Then, at a wedding fair, I fell in love with some table centrepieces that feature red roses. And that was it! Theme is now burgundy with red roses for the flowers.
Start browsing mags and visiting local fairs - things will start jumping out at you.0 -
I got totally lost when I first started looking. When I had my save the dates printed, I got a proof for an idea I thought I was set on, but then I decided that I didn't love it that much when I saw it. And I couldn't decide on colours. I have gone from navy to champagne to white to black to white again to teal to pink and orange...in the end I just went for an informal feel to the save the dates, without a colour scheme. It made it much easier as we knew we wanted it to be informal. I was going to let the bridesmaids chose the colour as well - but I have just seen some union jack irregular choice shoes, and I have got a British made and designed dress, so that's it - we are having Best of British as our wedding theme. It will suddenly hit you in a split second, I promise!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I was the same as the other guys on here, I love purple (even my hair was purple) so I had dark purple, white and silver. There are so many gorgeous themes out their tho. Get a few magazines as a lot of them do mood board style things so will give you an idea of what you like and dont. Also wedding fairs are good coz you can see what they all look like together
Dont worry about what everyone Thinks you should have (everyone will have their opinions) just pick something you both like and you'll be fine

Those boards are gorgeous!
I started off wanting a burgandy/claret and pastel pink then wasn't sure on the pink as we get married at the end of november. Then I was thinking we are aiming for fairly traditional so maybe lace, ivory and creams, then decided against that. I don't really have a favourite colour as such so that was out
Last night I was chatting with other half and he said 'I am having some input and you're not allowed puppies' then added 'or minature pigs'So that's out.
Too late in the year for Autumn/harvesty, too early for winter or christmas.
So I suggested a sweetie theme as I could have a sugar flower bouquet then. Then figured there wasn't much of a sweetie colour theme, unless I went back to the soft colours I googled it just in case any inspiration struck and....
I'm having a champagne and chocolate theme :T
I also found how to make chocolate flowers too so I'm going to have a crack at that, they're also fairly weddingy colours and the chocolate will be a deep colour with it being so late in the year but still being warm.
I am a major chocoholic, I think my family would be suprised if the wedding cake wasn't a big fat gooey chocolate cake and the champagne, when me and OH started dating he used to suggest we take champagne upstairs after work. At the time he ran a nightclub, he got it at retail for about £15, but we didn't finish until at least 2am and also used to have a few drinks before we left work so we'd open the bottle, pour two glasses and fall fast asleep0 -
Sorry another mamoth post
Steph, brown flower info from http://www.wedthemes.com
Fresh brown-colored flowers may be a little hard to come by, so you may want to consider using silk flowers instead (besides, these will "last" forever!)
A gorgeous combination is brown silk calla lilies and cream colored roses accented with brown ribbon. If you've chosen pink champagne, then substitute pink roses and/or pink ribbon as your accent.
If you have your heart set on real flowers, here are some suggestions:- Chocolate Cosmos - These tiny bloom flowers are actually a very deep burgundy color, leaning toward a chocolate shade... and they actually have the scent of chocolate!
- Cream Colored Orchids - Carry a small bouquet of orchids tied with brown silk ribbon.
Brown Roses - Yes, brown roses really do exist, but they are not common. They range in color from a light cafe to a dark chocolate brown. - Freesia - These funnel shaped fragrant flowers are popular wedding choices. They are available year-round and come in a variety of colors, including cream.
- Peony - Although not a good choice for a bouquet (they're very large), peonies are an excellent choice for table arrangements. You can get them in both cream and pink colors. Arrange them in a brown vase with a cream colored ribbon tied around the neck of the vase.
- If you can't find a suitable brown flower to compliment your champagne and chocolate theme, you can always have white or cream colored flowers dyed to match. Another option is to have just the tips of your flowers dipped in dye for a two-toned effect.
