Phone Contract (O2)

Had a contract phone with O2 since February last year, £35 for 18 months but I sort of managed to haggle with him and got it down to £22 a month for the 18 months.

Since then I've been late with some of the monthley payments by a couple of the days therefore I kept getting disconnected untill I paid them.

Anyway to cut a long story shot, I logged on to my O2 account before to see my next bill is £228.47 (£262 Inc VAT) and have now been disconnected permantley and must pay the remainder of my contract (£228.47) which it says is 2nd December 2009 - 10th August 2010.

I recieved a warning letter early December 2010 about the disconection and had to pay a certain amount which I did.

To make matters worse it said the remainder of my contract had to be paid by the 30th December last year. Tried calling them earlier on but was on hold for a while so decided to give them a call tomorrow. No way am paying the one whole payment for the remainder of the contract, just can't afford it at the moment. Am still hoping I may be able to reconnect to O2 and carry on with my monthly payments.

Anyone been in this situation before...HELP?

Phone them tomorrow as you planned, explain the situation - hopefully you will get someone cheerful on the other end. Offer to make up your total payment due to end of December if they reconnect you (and if they do that - continue paying monthly and on time then on). I think they will but you have to be willing to make payment - keep your card handy on phone :-). Might be worth saying sorry (but only once) and hope it works.
