Dear All,
Need your advise here. Any response is highly appreciated.
Had taken a 18 months contract (Free weekends) 16 months ago when BT offered £30 installation (instead of usual £125). It is now coming to an end in a month and halfs time.
I would like to know what happens after 18 months to my contract? My intention is not to commit for another 12 months as I only need BT for my internet (I cant live without internet and unfortunately virgin dont do to my address...disappointment). And I wont mind BT removing the weekends free call option if its a monthly rolling contract.
Now is it possible to get into a monthly rolling contract with one months notice period when i want to say Adios. If so then whom should I be calling and how should I be dealing with BT (dealing with BT really scares me...Notorious Customer service....). I want to be extra bit of careful when I deal with BT
can any experienced please advise....I would be really glad....
Thanks for your time.

Your not on a renewable contract now, so as long as you dont change from the Unlimited Weekend plan after the 18 months expires, you can cancel it without penalty/cancellation when your ready to do so.
The Unlimited Weekend Plan itself does not have a minimum term.
The minimum term of 12/18 months only usually applies to the line rental aspect for new customers and those switching their phone line from another provider.0 -
Many thanks for your response.utilitybroker wrote: »Your not on a renewable contract now, so as long as you dont change from the Standard Weekend plan after the 18 months expires, you can cancel it without penalty/cancellation when your ready to do so.
Sorry but can you please elaborate a bit please? I dont quiet understand as to how I can come out of this!
Currently BT had offered me a one off £90 discount on installation charges because I had committed for a 18 month contract under which I need to make a minimum of 30 chargeable calls every quarter to avoid paying back the 90 discount they offered me initially. My doubt is would BT ask me to pay the £90 back if I just cancel the free weekends plan from the contract??? can you please elaborate on this please??
Many thanks in advance.

After the 18 months are up you have fullfilled your obligation to BT, you are then on a standard Unlimited Weekend Plan, with no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Even if you were to cancel now the cancellation fee would be 7.50 for each month left.
Also after the 18 months are up you no longer need to make 30 chargeable or inclusive calls during every three month period, or 10 chargeable calls or inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.0 -
Are you really really sure that the OP will not be autorenewed on to another 12 month contract?utilitybroker wrote: »After the 18 months are up you have fullfilled your obligation to BT, you are then on a standard Unlimited Weekend Plan, with no minimum term and no cancellation fee. baldude: I suggest you write to BT and tell them that you do not wish to be put on to anything other than a monthly contract. Keep a copyHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Hi Baldude,
Just to clarify, when you initially started service with BT you were placed on to the connection charge offer meaning that you were only charged £30 for connection rather than the full charge of £122.50. The terms of this offer was that it entailed an 18 month contract and that you had to make 10 chargeable calls per month (30 chargeable per quarter) for the duration of the contract.
As you have now honoured the terms of the contract and the contract has almost expired, you will no longer need to make the above calls per month. Once the contract does expire, we will continue to provide the benefits of your current calling plan and if you decide to cancel you would not be liable for a cancellation charge as the 18 months has been honoured. Thanks to Utilitybroker for pointing this out.
All the best,

Robbie, can you please explain me WHAT SHOULD I DO during the time of expiry. I wanted to get on to a monthly rolling contract and would not want any free call packages from BT. As indicated in my post I only need landline for my BB and o2 provides me that.
I would appreciate it if Robbie can provide me a solution as to what should I be dong to get what I want after the expiry.
Regards,

Robbie, can you please explain me WHAT SHOULD I DO during the time of expiry.
Please read posts #4 and #6 carefully. And please don't shout.
That is the contract you will be on. You will also be on the Unlimited Weekend Plan because everyone gets it included in the line rental. Nice, eh?I wanted to get on to a monthly rolling contract and would not want any free call packages from BT.
Then just use it for that purpose. As indicated in my post I only need landline for my BB and o2 provides me that.
Will I do?I would appreciate it if Robbie can provide me a solution as to what should I be dong to get what I want after the expiry.0 -

The BT rep and Utility Broker have already told you dont have to do anything to get what you want when your contract expires. What dont you understand about the BT reps clear statement.
"Once the contract does expire, we will continue to provide the benefits of your current calling plan and if you decide to cancel you would not be liable for a cancellation charge as the 18 months has been honoured. Thanks to Utilitybroker for pointing this out."0
