  • thankyou im having a look now. No idea what i was doing....
  • oh it seems they only do this in England and Wales that must have been why i couldnt find it thanks for yoy help anyway bubbles
  • i was just trying to sort one out actually but it does seem a nightmare trying to estimate costs when they can vary so much.

baisically i will need a car when i graduate (teaching 1st year guarenteed but it will most likely be in the middle of nowhere and im fed up with trains taking twice as long) and the kitchens falling to bits. I have some money saved but it was a gift and not to be spend on a wedding and we have no joint savings anyway. So if we were to get married next year we would have to save an awful lot in just over a year and both of us had trouble getting extra hours last summer. 2012 would be a nightmare to get married becasue of courses finishing and me having no job by then. so it would need to be 2013

We dont want a big wedding but would really like a castle venue which wouldnt be cheap though we are happy to hire a hall for the reception and have a basic meal ect. i dont think i could spend more than £5000 though i would prefer about £3000. We would only have about 50 guests max.

im sorry thats a bit long but im trying to think it through i got all caught up in the wedding fever with my friend and reading about other peoples but when i talked to my mum she kinda brough me back down to earth (though she is being very helpful and and even offered to go shopping with me when i am not a shopping person). What i mean is im just trying to think this through logically now and i think ive just spilled my guts sorry

Sorry I feel everso bad, I asked you about this and then wasn't online for a few days.
Work out what place you want to go and your guest list and see how it prices up, and add on estimates for everything else - dresses etc. Then work out what you've got coming in and what will have to go out over the next while to see when you'd have enough. If you really can't do it til 2013 thats a shame but think how long you have got to get every detail perfect!!! You can make so much of it yourself and not have to hurry about it! And if you do that you will probably find that because things are being made and paid for very gradually it'll feel like things aren't costing you anything. (Like getting bits to make a tiara etc)
And if you spend the next couple of years on here researching you will have the most bargainous wedding ever!!!
It's a shame you if you can't do it sooner but it'll be worth the wait!

  • thanks hayey i think i will try and sort out some kind of budget ive found somewhere nearer me that we might be able to have the wedding at and that would make it a bit easier if we knew the area ect. i think a lot of it will depend if we both get good summer jobs and then have a way to save. We both do ok when were at uni because of loans ect but last summer we struggled.

Im sure it will be worth the wait and might be better planned its just because 2013 is soooo long away lol

  • lol i know what you mean but 3 years ago i was in high school so it seems ages ago. It will be worth the wait though i found a venue closer to home which is £400 for hire but i have no idea what things like chair hire ect for the ceromony would cost any ideas guys? if i got this castle i could prob hire a hall nearby and cut cost that way

  • What an awesome castle.
If you hired a nearby hall would it not come with chairs? Otherwise could you get a marque on the grounds? They're costly but I'm pretty sure they come with everything. And you could get a mobile bar in.
I've just realised you need chairs for the ceremony... Not sure where you could get them from but if you had a marque on the grounds then the marque company might be able to bring you extra chairs?

  • yea it was chairs for the ceremony that i was meaning but someone getting married in an abbey(sorry cany remeber who) said that they are able to use the benches in the hall so there may be something in the castle that i could use.

i really like this place and it was once owned by the douglas clan and my surnames douglas so its a we link

have you any news on your dress yet?
  • That sounds promising!!!
The lady text me today to say the bank reckon it will clear by monday so I will have it tuesday. OH MY GOD I'm so excited!!!!!
