I am so excited and scared and nervous and happy, I think I might just pop!
Sorry to hear yours might be on hold, have you got any sort of budget?

  • i was just trying to sort one out actually but it does seem a nightmare trying to estimate costs when they can vary so much.

baisically i will need a car when i graduate (teaching 1st year guarenteed but it will most likely be in the middle of nowhere and im fed up with trains taking twice as long) and the kitchens falling to bits. I have some money saved but it was a gift and not to be spend on a wedding and we have no joint savings anyway. So if we were to get married next year we would have to save an awful lot in just over a year and both of us had trouble getting extra hours last summer. 2012 would be a nightmare to get married becasue of courses finishing and me having no job by then. so it would need to be 2013

We dont want a big wedding but would really like a castle venue which wouldnt be cheap though we are happy to hire a hall for the reception and have a basic meal ect. i dont think i could spend more than £5000 though i would prefer about £3000. We would only have about 50 guests max.

im sorry thats a bit long but im trying to think it through i got all caught up in the wedding fever with my friend and reading about other peoples but when i talked to my mum she kinda brough me back down to earth (though she is being very helpful and and even offered to go shopping with me when i am not a shopping person). What i mean is im just trying to think this through logically now and i think ive just spilled my guts sorry
  • my definition im sure hayley doesnt mind!
now for your venue checkon direct gov website for a list of venues you can marry in
if your lucky to have one by you you could get married in a castle ruinish type thing, the one by us holds a small number of people in a small room only so you have to find a different place for the reception
then search your local town/village hall hire prices
or go to a big restaurant (wetherspoons, table table) type place and just have a roast dinner or carvery(hope your not veggie if so have whatever YOU like lol :) )
    hth :)

my definition, my whole wedding is coming in at £3750!! So it can be done, we are having 30 for sit down meal plus 100 for evening with buffet! Happy to help you find a frock too ;)
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

  • Thanks bubbles is it the general register office list im looking at for venues? the websites huge but i think that right? unfortanatly i dont think theres anything castle-ish near me except chatelherault which is lovely but not really what we want. I will try and get a price for a hall though thats prob a good idea to check prices.

Frannyann i will def be enlisting your help when i need it everyones singing your praises. Im surprised you got as many people going for that price makes it seem more do-able. We have been overpaying the mortgage a little (very complicated whole other reason for that) so we could maybe save a decent sum. My favorite ebay dress at the moment is below that is the nearest i will be doing to dress shopping before i loose atleast a size!
