yeah i forgot about fon davb thanks, though ive been signed up to that since i t was new and its never caused issues before. its given me the addy to check status of my router so i shall play with that and switch fon off too

sparhawke it was bt. i ahd issues with ntl in th epast (crap), heard so many horror stories about talk talk i refuse to consider them (and friend has them and is lucky if she can access net once every 10times she tries), and tried a few of the others before deciding that id rathe rpay more and have bts tech support which i can always get through to, and they have always fixed my problems, even when its a setting on my computer causing the trouble. ive been with them again at least since i last moved (was quickest company to set up broadeband and phone at new address, i cannot be without net lol) 4 years ago and never hit their limits before. they also dropped my cost down a few months ago since i was a loyal customer. its now only a couple of quid more expensive than some of the cheapest options, in fact im paying less a month than my friend is paying talktalk.
ill play with settigns and monitor my usage this month and see what happens. i dont actually need unlimited, normally, indeed when ive asked bt about if i need to upgrade in the past they have always been honest and said no your not going over your limits so stay as you are instead of saying yeah give us extra money.0 -
Just had an idea you can try Purple, you know when you are browsing and in the bottom left of firefox it will sometimes come up with flashtalking.com or google-analytics.com?
Often those are programs designed to serve us up extra helpings of spam by feeding us adverts...
What if you knew how to make sure they dont come at all?
I have had definate performance enhancement with this small trick but you will have to stay on top of it

In a nutshell everytime you open something on the internet windows first checks the hostfile and if the dodgy name is there it will block it.
And yes, it is perfectly safe
