Ihave spoken to the council and they said they wouldn't do anything because when i signed for the house i also agreed to take it as it was so they are basically saying it is not their problem.Im at a loss really im thinking maybe my local mp/councillor might be able to help? I think i will send them an email anyways as i have nothing to lose.x

As it's a council property do you need to get permission to carry out this work? And also, will you be required to return the bathroom (wetroom) to it's original state if/when you move on?

I know it sounds stupid but you know Councils, sometimes rules and regulations take precedent over common sense no matter how good a job has been done!

Also, if something happens in the future to the bath, water supply into it, drainage out of it, the bath itself and you require the council as landlord to fix it, does the fact that you changed the original fittings make you liable for the maintenance of it?

Just a few things to think about and bear in mind before you go ahead with this.

P.S. My brothers fitted a bath into my mom's house just before she sold it and neither of them are plumbers or even over enthusiastic DIY'ers so it's a job that can be done without "professional" tradespeople.

in london about £230-ish per day for a pro bathroom guy not including any items.

Beware of idiots - I had one with 16 years of experience and was useless, really useless - poorest job you could imagine.

The next thing is to be aware of the bath type and hopefully someone that has better presentation will step in here, especially if you are still going to stand and shower in the bath too. Some plastic baths apparently warp, some are so thin and need support or they may crack (itthis could be an old wife's tail?), and my old cast iron one (before I put in a shower) the glaze wore away to the point you end up loosing the enamel and have a black area that also gets worn away to the metal.

Surely you would not be allowed to alter a rented property to this extent.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
