Barclays - Card Cash Account

Went in today.
The girl behind the counter told me I couldnt open an account as my main occupation is student, and that she would have to open me a student account.

My question is, what if I cant get a student account?
What would they do then?

I told them I have my wages going into it as well.

Try applying for a student account with them first. If that is declined, I think the system would default it to a Cash Card Account. You could have done this today. Do it tomorrow.

You shouldn't need to go to the counter to open an account. There is a member of staff standing around the branch. Those are the people you should talk to. If there isn't anyone there, queue near the personal bankers desk.

I got a student a/c, and I have a pretty pants credit score. Also, weren't you the one who was pondering on whether to use your loan for driving lessons or a PS3? If your credit is that bad, could you use some of the loan to pay them off and start to improve your rating?

Although they don't credit check you they do report this account to the CRAs. So lots of lovely green 0s if you're good.
