No idea what you mean. Renew Tenancy Deposit Scheme?
Why does it need renewing?
Postcode for who? What? Why?
doesn't make sense unless I've missed the whole point.0 -
As a complete shot in the dark
Is she re-registering the deposit each time? Will their software allow her to re-register or does 'the system' have a hissy fit? It could mean that she keeps putting in new postcodes just to renew, which means that the deposit is going to be registered for a different address. If so would it be possible to just not re-register and keep the deposit where it is?
How much do you trust the landlady?0 -
Still doesn't make sense. Once the deposit is registered, it's registered. As Tamsin says, the deposit must relate to the property - so unless the property is being lifted up by Americal technology and moved to a new location, the postcode must be the same!
Or is 'TDS' something completely different??
What's going on with the contract? New fixed term? Periodic?0 -
AST Tenancy, 1 year rent per TDS renewal
She re-registers it every year following a contract renewal.
Sorry GM, Your right that didnt make much sense!
Ll came over, said she was renewing the TDS online, and that she needed the postcode ( and following a phone convo with her ) the full address of someone else, she said it was new TDS rules ?
Was just wondering if anyone had any idea if this is the truth, ( well if this info is needed - as I had a look, and couldn't find anything ) if not, not sure why she wants it.
Have checked online, and the TDS was protected for the correct address ( ours ) last year.0 -
Sorry, TDS, Tenancy Deposit Scheme.0

I would imagine it's just an alternative contact address for you for when the tenancy ends, in case you just disappear and forget to let the LL/TDS know your new details.0

once again folks are jumping to conclusions about "bad" landlords....
this is an attempt by tenancy deposit schemes to make sure that they are able to contact tenants at the end of the tenancy, so they will be able to discuss matters/ email the tenant/ write to the tenant/ text the tenant/ phone the tenant if there is a dispute about their deposit..
its a "lets help tenants measure" - if the Scheme cannot contact you - the cannot help you0 -

Spot on - isn't it amazing that we were discussing this very problem only yesterday and yet people assume that any attempt to fix the problem must be an evil LL!0 -
So why are you concerned about giving the land lord a contact address for you, after your tenancy?
I ask for this as a matter of course, so I know where to return the deposit and where to forward post on to0 -
Because not everyone knows their next destination when they've just renewed their tennency for a year, and for those without family(or without family in the UK), when most of your friends also rent, they just might not have a reliable forwarding address for a years time.
If they were coming up to the final month of tennancy and asked for a forwarding address then its probably pretty straightforward.0
