Hi all,
My girlfriend and I have recently moved into a new flat and have signed a 6 month contract. However we are not sure if we will be staying at the flat after the 6 months. I have been looking at the deals around but many are a minimum of 12 months and have heavy cancellation fees. I was looking at O2 as I am a customer of theirs, but in their terms and conditions they have they have a home movers charge of £48.93 (if you move more than once in a year, does this mean that if we were to move to another house after 6 months would we not be charged). There is a BT line in the house which isnt connected to the exchange, BT said that they would reconnect it free of charge, but I would have to go with one of their packages. Do people recommend other services which may help my situation?
Many thanks
Guy

You get one move free per 12 month period with O2.
If you sign up do so through TopCashBack or Quidco.
The O2 Access product (cost ~£17) is rather poor so think carefully (or ask again) before signing up if that is all you get offered.0 -
Thank you for that. I have looked up about access. How can you tell if your area is unbundled?
We were also wondering that if we used BT unlimited weekend plan for calls we wouldn't need to pay a reconnection fee then use O2 for our broadband.
Does anyone see a problem with that? Or suggest an alternative?0 -
Watch out for minimum contracts with BT call products too. If you are looking at BT call products just to avaoid connection charges then OK but unless you make large numbers of calls I think products like www.call1899.co.uk offer better value (there are other similar ones but I forget the number as I use 1899.
Put your phone number or postcode into http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php and check for Be/O2 in the LLU section on the right.
Alternately if you go through the O2 order process they will only offer LLU options if avaialble. It is rare but possible that an exchange is LLU enabled but the kit is full so you still can't get LLU.0 -
Or if you are going to be a low internet user, you could do with Plusnet. They offer a 30 day rolling contract (for homephone and broadband) but for the broadband you need to pay a £30 fee upfront or if you take the 12 month contract you pay no fee at the begining, but if you did want to cancel you pay the £30 fee at that point.0

We're in a similar situation, so we've signed up for a dongle so we can use mobile broadband (we haven't connected the landline) on a one-month contract. Having said that, we're with Orange and the connection speed is so slow most of the time it is barely useable.0

I have a bt line and want to use o2. I'm waiting to here back from bt because no way on earth am I going to pay almost £130 for a reconnection fee, I don't know how they come to a figure like that! All I want to do is rent the line and if they don't agree, well they lose out on a customer because I'll go elsewhere.:money:0

You might want to look into virgin medias cheapest bundle. £130 quidco and £18 a month on a 12 month contract. It says two months free and free installation, I hope this helps someone0
