    ok forget it its not going to work coz to install the patch i need to have an original xp cd to install it which i dont have

    Not as long as you make sure the purchaser knows that it isn't XP compatible, but your seller really should be sorting this out for you.

    the seller is wrong, technically it doesn't work under XP, however, as it's such a small amount, have you tried googling? rather than escalating a simple mistake

    other people can get it working under XP just fine!!!

    Create a shortcut to the exe file (from the directory where you installed it) on your desktop (or somewhere). Right click on the shortcut and go properties. There should be a compatability tab there. Click "Run this program in compatability mode for" and select an operating system to try.

    (yes, it's hassle, but hey thats part of life)

    also try the latest patch

    search google for "railroad tycoon 2" xp and also add words like working , compatibility and similar

    also, just found this..........


    1. Check if the file c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt exists. If not,
    search the hard drive for it and copy it to the c:\windows\system32\
    directory.


    2. Do the same for config.nt.

    thats what im going through at the moment but it appears i dont have system32 on this machine for some reason about to install a BFU to replace it.

    this is far too much hassle for 4 quid lmao
