If you want to try the independent joiner route, you could try and google 'Xceptional Joinery' over in Dunfermline. I'm in the process of getting a quote from them, father & son company using 'Spectus' units as used by Everest. I'm in Edinburgh and tried a couple of local DG companies as well as a national company, Xceptional have came in the cheapest(still need to iron out the finishes), just need to make sure the window units are like for like now for a true comparison!Hi
i am in Fife0 -
Like yourself we have looked at a few companies then done our homework on the internet.I am stuck... can anyone truly recommend a company (Edinburgh or Lothians) to supply and fit about 7 windows also (sliding or opening) patio doors? THANKS
We've looked at and discounted 'Ideal', too expensive. UPVC Window Company and Invision gave us simlarly competitive quotes, UPVC uses Veka units, Invision use Planitherm(Solaglass). We have since been recommended an independent father & son joinery co from Dunfermline, they have quoted the cheapest so far, they use Spectus units, but we need to go over all the finer points on the finishes/handles etc before we commit. I believe after much advice from here that there is not much between the units themselves, more to do with the fitting, I'm hoping an independent co will have a bit pride with their work as most jobs for them will be through word of mouth rather than mass media advertising?!?0 -
Advanced did my windows a few years ago after recommendations from 2 friends, have no complaints about the job and they were the best price with no hard sell. UPVC door co did the front door the year before, ghastly nightmare, door was unlockable for a week, eventually had to involve trading standards to get it fixed.RIP Iain
