adn thoughts on 3 phone with iphone options (though their own version) we dont really like beign tied to contract but look at all options. i prefer pay as you go along but thnk the phones might be pricey
It's irrelevent on the iPhone. There in no competition between the networks and they all pretty much charge the same over the life on the contract. You either pay the costs or don't have an iPhone.
Tesco charge £342 for the phone in PAYG, Orange £343, O2 £349.
http://www.mobilecomputermag.co.uk/img/fckImages/news/2009/12/tesco-iphone/tesco-o2-orange-tariff.gif summarises the costs per network.
Bear in mind the cheapest free iPhone costs £35 a month for 18 months so thats £630 minimum on o2. Cheaper Tesco phone is £20 a month for 12 months but the phone is £222 making if £462 (and £582 if you extend that to 18 months for a even comparision with o2).
All depends how much you want to use it but there is no cheap iPhone option.0 -

I think you'll find at that monthly cost and contract length the phone is not free and indeed costs about £1800 -

I wish it was free
I'm at the moment deciding whether to pay the £180 or tie myself in for two years for £80
Lot of money either way0 -

here's an obscure way of doing it, but possibly beneficial..
If you can take out a Tesco Credit Card, buy the phone on PAYG on it, then pay off as much of it a month as you can afford. They're doing 12 months 0% on purchases at the moment, so providing you pay it off within that time, you'll still only pay £342. Using a Tesco credit card means you'll earn extra clubcard points, thus earning you more money-off vouchers and further reducing the "real" cost of the iPhone.
By my calculations, that's £28.50 per month, and thus cheaper than any of the contracts. Tesco are doing a "Triple your Credit" deal when you top up £15 or £20 at a time as well.GREENS M'SHIP OFFER NOW CLOSED SO PLEASE DON'T ASK ME!Olympic Debt-free Challenge £2150/£11900 = 18.0%NOW INVESTIGATING AN ALTERNATIVE TO MY IVA - I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ONE ANY MORE!0
