Elderly neighbours in the cold weather

As one of the errr slightly older folk on this site I would like to thank on behalf of the ones who haven't got 'netted up yet to all the kind people who remember that there are elderly and frail people about.Quite often older people find it hard to ask for help as its admitting that you are older and no longer the sprightly person you once were.I am always eternally gratefull to anyone who remembers to knock and aks if I need anything. So cheers to all the kindly folk and the young ones at that who remember that not all old people are miserable old beggers but some of us are really very nice. I love to bake and I will be baking all this week for my neighbours who help me out.Its not a lot but no one is going to say no to a mince pie or a sausage roll I think I am also going to make a big box of Twinks hob-nobs as they go down very well.0

It is lovely to know that there are so many caring people on this forum x
DS has been going to see the old lady up the street every day and has taken a week's worth of HM ready meals up for her so that all she has had to do is reheat them.
Her DS is coming up from Wiltshire to take her to his for Christmas on Thursday - but if he can't make it we have invited her for Christmas dinner here.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

i have spoken to my parents today, my dad got out the car to take my mum to the supermarket (my dad never goes to the supermarket!!) as he did not want her driving in the current conditions - my mum went to the elderly frail couple across the road to see if they needed anything picking up, they were greatful but did say it was the forth offer they had recieved that day and had already had a nieghbour get their shopping - just goes to show how lovely people can be - better to be checked on by all the nieghbours than to assume that someone else will do itDogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

I went to check on my (almost 86 year old) dad today, he's not on the phone and I don't drive when there's snow on the ground, so I had over half an hour walk to his house, which I could have done without as I think I'm going down with the flu that OH has had since the weekend. I'd barely been in the door two minutes, when he got ready to go out and shot out the door to catch his bus to go shopping, there's gratitude lol! He's very independent, but I always check on him as often as I can, and his neighbours watch out for him as he looks out for them.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
